Good Design (GD) mark

The Good Design (GD) is a system that attaches a GD mark to products on the market deemed to be superior to other products in terms of overall design taking into consideration factors such as functionality, safety and quality. The program was initiated in Korea in October 1985 with 48 products. Products that receive the GD mark are able to use that mark for 2 years. The color of the mark changes annually and it is highly respected as an indicator of quality and performance. Items that lack a KS mark are not eligible for GD Selection.

1995 – Applied ceramic heaters to hair irons.Unil Electronics was the first company to use special ceramic heaters for hair irons, allowing those stylers to rapid reach and easily maintain the desired temperature while remaining in a safe temperature range during hairstyling.

1999 – Developed the World’s first ceramic-coated heat plates.Heat plates treated with an advanced ceramic coating technology represent a significant improvement over existing anodized and Teflon products in the prevention of hair pulling, while the radiation of far-infrared ray and anions minimize keratin destruction making hair softer and silkier.

2002 – Developed free-voltage and automatic shut-off functions.

With a rated operational voltage of 100 to 240V and 50/60Hz, our stylers can be

used anywhere in the World, and the automatic shut-off feature which turns the

product off after 30 minutes of non-use provides an additional level of safety.

1998 – Developed the World’s first built-in temperature sensors.Our hair irons feature built-in temperature sensors, representing a major improve-ment over existing products which had sensors attached to the electric power cord that prevents hitting the clients on the head or the body while styling.

2001 – Developed the World’s first tilting & cushioning heat plate.Special part applied to the underside of the heat plate allows it a cushioning system to move up and down, and the left/right tilting system minimizes hair snagging.

2006 – Developed the World’s first 3D swivel pivot cord.

The 360˚ swiveling ball-type cord, upgraded from the 360˚ rotating cord, prevents

the power cord from twisting and knotting, increasing the lifespan of the product.

The dream of minimal hair damage made a reality by Glampalm• Tested on women with healthy hair who were in their twenties by the Hair and Scalp Laboratory of H University.• Test results showed that after using a competitor’s iron, there was damage to the hair and a breakdown of the cuticle.• After using Glampalm, there was little damage to the hair and the overall condition of the hair was scientifically proven to be nearly identical to its condition prior to testing.

Hair styled with Glampalm is scientifically proven to have ‘almost no hair damage.’One of the comments we got after conducting a survey to Glampalm users was that their hair was glossier and less damaged with Glampalm compared with other products. To scientifically prove this opinion, we requested a university laboratory to conduct independent testing. The degree and extent of hair damage caused by hair-irons was measured by the Hair and Scalp Laboratory of H University over two women in their twenties with healthy hair; one used Glamplam and the other a product from Competitor A (with anodizing heat plate); and another couple used Glampalm and another product from Competitor B (usual ceramic coated hair iron) every day for 4 weeks.

Test resultsThe hair styled using Glampalm

demonstrated minimal damage and thecondition of the cuticle was nearly

identical to its condition prior to testing. On the contrary, the hair styled using

Competitor A’s product showed obvious damage including scratches, deterioration,

and even total removal of the cuticle.

split-ends, but was otherwise fairly healthy.On the other hand, hair styled with Competitor

B’s product without a doubt revealed that the cuticle layer of the hair had been split, removed,

pressed and bent or severely roughen. The cells of the cuticle layer were shown to

have broken or peeled off.
