Who We AreEstablished in 2003, Almost Home Dog Rescue of Ohio is a registered 501(c)(3) non-profit organization staffed entirely by dedicated volunteers that share a love for dogs and a passion for our mission. Most of our volunteers have owned at least one Collie or Sheltie during their lifetime and want to ensure that these beautiful and loving dogs are rescued from an undesirable life, or even worse, death. Almost Home is unique in that it does not discriminate against dogs because of age, health or physical condition. We do what it takes to revive a dog in distress - a price sticker is NEVER placed on a life.

Collies, Shelties and other family-friendly breeds enter our program from: • Shelters where euthanasia is eminent. • Breeder surrenders. • Strays found by concerned citizens. • Owners that, for one reason or another, can no longer keep their dog.

Future goals of Almost Home Dog Rescue of Ohio include: • Educate the public, adults and children, about dog rescue, safety and issues, and best practices of dog ownership. • Utilize grant monies to continue to rescue and care for senior dogs. • Secure a location for storage of supplies and equipment as well as provide an office area and meeting place.

Ways to Help • Become a foster parent. There is always a need for these key volunteers. Without them, it would be a challenge to pursue our mission to provide a safe haven for our rescued dogs until they are adopted into their forever homes. Plus, all expenses for the dog’s care are covered by Almost Home. • Work events or help with fundraising. • Transport for intakes, vet visits, and events. • Grooming. • Donations.

Care We ProvideOur rescued dogs receive the following care:(values of services are approximate)

• Physical Exam - $55 • Vaccinations - $85 • Heartworm Test - $42 • Heartworm Treatment (if positive) $200 - $400 • Fecal Test (for bacterial infections & worms) $25 • Spay or Neuter (if needed) - $250 - $300 • Dental (if needed) - $300 • Grooming provided by volunteers • Personality assessment in a loving foster environment – priceless

Veterinary expenses are paid by adoption fees. Our adoption fees vary and are based upon the age

of our dogs; however, in most cases, the fee is less than the

veterinary expenses. Almost Home makes up the difference through

fundraising and generous monetary and material donations from

dog-loving individuals and companies that share our mission.
