q 1. Apply for admission to ACC at www.alpenacc.edu.

    2. Complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) online at www.fafsa.gov or obtain a paper form from your high school counselor. The results from your FAFSA must be received by the ACC Financial Aid Office prior to the scholarship application deadline to qualify for need- based scholarships.

    3. Complete the Scholarship Application form. A fillable form is online at www.alpenacc.edu. Click on "Admissions," then "Financial Aid."

    4. Request your high school or college transcript. Submit with the scholarship application.

    5. Determine which scholarships you are eligible for. Scholarships are categorized by program of study as well as categories for non-traditional students, service clubs, technical programs, and athletics. There is also a "Miscellaneous" category that you will not want to miss! On the back of the application, place a check mark next to each scholarship you are eligible for. You will not be considered for scholarships that you do not check off.

    6. If required for the scholarships for which you are applying, obtain letter(s) of recommendation and submit with the scholarship application.

    7. Write an essay that gives us a picture of your situation—your college and career goals, past accomplishments and any obstacles you have overcome or are currently facing. The essay does not need to be long. However, it is a good idea to have someone you trust proofread it before submitting.
