It is almost the end of 2015, with the holidays

coming upon us. Where did the year go? It

seems like only yesterday that the Annual

dinner meeting was held in Atlanta on July 31,

2015. The theme was “Gone With The Wind”

and a lot of members dressed in the style of

the period. Congratulations to Barbara

Snyderman, who collected the most donations

for her beautiful Civil War era outfit.

This year, AMTF welcomed nine new mem-

bers. (Read their bios in the insert.) As chair

of the membership committee, I found the ac-

complishments of these Medical Laboratory

Scientists to be outstanding. This 2015 group

has and will continue to make us proud of be-

ing part of the medical laboratory profession.

We welcome all of you to our fraternity.

This fraternity’s mission is to give monetary

support to students entering the field of Medi-

cal Laboratory Science, and this year you

helped 27 students achieve their educational

goal with your generous donations. Alpha Mu

Tau gave $63,000 to 24 undergraduate and 3

graduate students in 2015! This was the first

year the Eleanor Parchman scholarship was

awarded, along with six other named scholar-

ship and 20 AMTF scholarships. We are look-

ing forward to welcoming these deserving stu-

dents into the profession and into their profes-

sional organization. I anticipate that several of

these young people will become leaders in the

Medical Laboratory Science profession.

Along with the positive news, we were sad-

dened to learn of the

passing of member Doris Ross of Houston

TX. Doris would have been one of our

oldest members, having joined in 1967.

Also, Fran Fisher of Tallahasse, FL passed

away in July. Our condolences go out to

their loved ones.

As a reminder, in an effort to communi-

cate with you in a more efficient and time-

ly manner, we have set up an AMTF

listserv. Each member who has given us

an email address will automatically be

added to the listserv. While we hope you

stay connected, you can feel free to opt out

at any time. Let’s keep the momentum go-

ing and nominate our deserving colleagues

for membership into Alpha Mu Tau for

2016 and encourage students, both under-

graduate and graduate to apply for AMTF

scholarships. It is my pleasure to serve

you as the 2015-2016 AMTF President,

and I am looking forward to another pro-

ductive year for AMTF and to a lively and

profitable dinner in Philadelphia in 2016.

Thank you very much for the prestigious award! It means the world to my family and I. It’ll allow me to focus on my studies without worrying about my finances, especially during the Clinical Externship. I am deeply honored to have received this award and I wish I could thank everyone in person but sadly my busy school schedule does not allow me to attend the dinner. Thank you again for your amazing generosity!

Sincerely,

Peter Wong

Thank you so much for selecting me as a scholarship recipient. I am grateful for your generous tuition support for my academic year at The Colorado Center for Medical Laboratory Science.

Again, thank you for your generosi-ty!
