We are...

a professional, friendly, reliable and fully insured dog walking and pet care service in Bingley, West Yorkshire and its surrounding areas.

Alpha Pets are Michelle and Cheryl, sisters who decided to work together to do what we love most, caring for dogs and pets. We have a huge passion for dogs, indeed for all animals and we love the outdoors, so we decided to bring it all together and create our own dog walking and pet services business. You can be assured and have complete peace of mind that your dogs and pets will be well looked after, loved and cuddled throughout their fun filled time spent with us.

Alpha Pets was born out of our love for all animals. We feel that this is our biggest unique selling point, as the care we provide is not just a service but an understanding, based on trust, that your animals are part of our family.

The passion behind the business comes from its founders, sister duo Michelle and Cheryl.Alpha Pets was founded in March 2013 after we decided that it was time to start and run our very own business. We are both from an office-based background and we needed a complete change of direction, doing something we love whilst managing our other main job of being mums!

In a job where we are always on the go, it is very important for us to have a mobile business and that our customers are able to contact us at any time via phone and social media as we believe that communication is key to our success.

Alpha Pets have the utmost respect for all of our communities, parks and public places and we have a duty to ensure that the environment is protected for all therefore we maintain cleanliness and hygiene wherever we go.

When we decided on this exciting new venture there were five core values on which we wanted to base our business, in order to present ourselves as a leader in professional pet care services.

SafeIn any business health and safety is paramount and this is our number one core value; your pets are cared for safely during their time with us.

TrustWe feel that without trust we do not have a business as our customers are entrusting us with a member of their family they love and cherish, as well as access to their homes. We pride ourselves on our relationships with our customers and we will always respect their homes and pets.

ReliableOur days are always very busy but we will always ensure that we collect and drop off your pets when we are meant to therefore our customers can rely on their pets not being left too long when at work.

FlexibleDue to the nature of our business and customer’s work commitments we do make sure that we are flexible to change with last minute additions or cancellations to our walks and our ethos in this regard will not alter. Our customers can have peace of mind that they can choose when and what it is they require from us.

After the birth of her second child Michelle decided to have a career break knowing that one day she would set up her own business.

Cheryl, a business and marketing graduate whois mother to daughter Ava, a Labrador collie crosscalled Toby and cat called Simba. Cheryl was a trainer of financial services for a high street bank and decided that after maternity leave the prospect of having her own business would best suit the needs of her new family. Cheryl always knew that she wanted her own business and wanted to combine her skills learnt throughout her university degree with her passion for animals and their wellbeing.

Stephanie (Auntie Stephie to the Alpha Pets family) and sister in law to Cheryl is a Psychology Graduate and animal lover who was thrilled to join such a great family pet care business.

She was lucky enough to grow up surrounded by animals, two huge Pyrenean mountain dogs and a border collie, two cats, rabbits, guinea pigs, fish, hamsters and horses, all at the same time! She now has a big fluffy Newfoundland who goes by the name of Buckley Bear!

I look forward to Monday morning coming around because I really do have the best job; seeing how happy they are to see us and even more excited to see their friends and play. It makes my day! I look after them as if they are my own pets; their welfare and well-being is my priority. I have always been extremely passionate about animal welfare from a young age and I enjoy giving them all cuddles and thinking of nick- names to suit their characters. As part of our exceptional customer service, we want to ensure that our clients are completely reassured that they have made the right choice and to this end we do not take any animal into our care unless we have met our clients first in their home environment to discuss and record a full overview of their requirements.

Being safe is of upmost importance to all of us at Alpha Pets and is an ongoing principle we uphold. Safety is the first core value in our mission statement and we do not conduct business that compromises the health and wellbeing of the public, our customers, our pets and ourselves.

Safe

We believe safe means consideration for our safety and others, the environment and the health and welfare of the pets in our care.

Environment

We believe in contributing to a safe and clean environment. We ensure any mess is picked up, be it on our private land or on a woodland walk. We do not leave litter and all waste is disposed of appropriately.

Our fleet of vans were chosen for their low CO2 emissions as we recognised that many of our journeys would be short but also frequent.

Vaccination

An Alpha Pet can only become one of the family if we have seen the recent vaccination records. We take this very seriously due to infection and disease being passed very easily from pet to pet when mixing together.

Hygiene

With most of our activities being outside, there is a requirement to ensure that all our pets are kept as clean as possible and are returned home in a reasonably acceptable state. We achieve this by towelling the dogs down with clean towels and all mess is picked up and disposed of in our waste disposal bins on site. Antibacterial gel is carried at all times.

Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)

Our team are issued with a uniform including, T Shirt, Hoodie, appropriate footwear and on those dark mornings and nights, a Hi-Visibility vest or jacket.

Transportation

All pets are transported in our custom retro-fitted vans which have six bespoke cages and a space for larger pets. The cages are all secured and bolted down to the chassis of the van. For insurance purposes we are permitted to transport a maximum of 8 pets at a time.

Health & Safety

At Alpha Pets we want your pet to receive as much physical and mental stimulation as possible. Not all dogs can and should be run for an hour so we encourage all of our dogs to interact and socialise with each other appropriately.

We provide companionship for your pet, we care for them as if they are our own and they will know they are loved.

We do offer a controlled lead walk for dogs that aren’t too good with other dogs. This still provides them with much needed exercise and interaction and they can explore new sounds and smells in order to make them feel happy and relaxed.

We like to replicate the training from owners of dogs that have been trained to be ‘off lead’ so they do not feel restricted which can cause stress and discomfort. We use our experience positively and effectively to handle dogs who may be more challenging than others and there are some walks specifically tailored to members of the Alpha Pets family.

Alpha Pets is all about fun, giving your pet the exercise they require to provide stimulation and socialisation in a safe controlled yet loving environment. We love all our dogs and it is so rewarding when we receive messages from owners about a contented and happy pet, it really does make our day.

Social MediaSocial Media is a very important tool for us as it enables us to provide constant updates of the activities that our customers’ pets are enjoying.

In our mission statement we wanted a fully mobile business and this medium enables us to interact with our customer base at the click of a button.

We use four main apps for our social media and they are Facebook, Instagram, Twitter and You Tube.

This not only provides us with an excellent communication tool but from a marketing and brand awareness aspect it really does work. We have had numerous enquiries through this form and we also have a fantastic website which generates large numbers of customer enquiries to keep us busy.

Weather warning !!!

The cold miserable weather is approaching us now. We strive to have a constant supply of clean towels ready to dry your dogs down with. However, in especially bad weather we would like to ask for you to leave a towel out for us to dry your dog down with just so we can make sure we have got them as dry as possible during the bad weather!

Pet of the Week

We are excited to announce that we are going to be having a ‘pet of the week’, our Alpha Pet of the week will be announced every Friday evening and will allow the winning pet to have a free walk or visit the following week on their normal scheduled visit. We are happy to an-nounce that our first pet of the week is going to Archie Bulldog. Our super friendly Bulldog is everyone’s friend and has been an exception-ally good boy this week! Well done Archie you have a free hour walk next week! I’m sure your Mum and Dad (Mel and Rik) will be pleased.

Issue 2 October 2014 Pet of the Week

Kennel Cough

As you may all now know there has been an outbreak of kennel cough going around. Quite a few of our dogs have been affect-ed by this nasty virus. Signs to look out for are an obvious cough, runny nose and eyes and lethargy. We ask all of our customers to keep fully up to date with their vaccina-tions including kennel cough seeing though your pets are always in a mix group envi-ronment. Just to make you aware that even though your dogs are vaccinated against ken-nel cough, the vaccination only actually works 67% of the time. So there is unfortunately still a chance of your dog being infected even though vaccinated ( according to our lo-cal vets at the Gatehouse Vetenary Group)

PricingAs dog owners we recognise the importance of regular exercise during the day for your dog. If left for too long or not given the right amount of exercise your dog can become unhappy and unwell. We pride ourselves on giving your dog a fun and happy experience, whether on the lead or off. We offer group walks for your dog so they can socialise and meet friends, with no more than six dogs at a time ensuring high levels of safety and control are maintained.

One Hour Dog Walk £9 Additional Dog £5

Your dog may not be the most sociable dog or may find it difficult to interact with other dogs but you want him or her to have a healthy amount of exercise and fun in their day too. We offer private hour long dog walks to ensure that all have the opportunity to get out and stretch their legs during the day.

Half Day £14

We understand that some dogs suffer from anxiety and cannot be left for long periods of time whilst you’re out of the house. We offer half day care that can be tailored to you and your pet’s needs. This would mean that your dog is out of the house for a minimum of four hours during the day having lots of fun and at least two hours of walking and exercise. Water is continuously available and treats are given to your dog too.

Pet Taxi from £5

We understand that you may not be able to take your dog to the groomers or take him or her for their boosters as your vets may have no convenient appointments. For this reason we offer our pet taxi service. We will take your pets to their appointments and bring them home making sure your daily routine is not interrupted and your pet has the care it needs.

Animal Feeding from £5

Do you have a cat? Do you own a cow?! No problem! We can feed them! If you are going on holiday and your pet needs looking after, we will ensure that they have the care that you provide for them, whilst you are away. Whether going on holiday, a weekend away or a business trip please get in touch, we are here to help.

Puppy Visits £12

Getting a puppy is a very exciting time for every household. However working and having a puppy can be a challenge. We offer a puppy visiting service. We will come twice a day and in these visits we will clear up any mess the puppy has made, give him or her lots of play and cuddles, do a short lead walk with them and feed them as necessary. We believe socialising is very important for dogs, so when you feel your puppy is ready for socialising we will slowly start to integrate them with other dogs and when the time is right, join and be part of the longer, fuller walks.

Pet Stop & House Sitting £25 a night

This is a service we provide where we stay at your house whilst you are away so you do not have to board your pet and provides you with the assurance that someone you trust is taking care of your pet and your home.

Facilities

Secure Land

At Alpha Pets we have the luxury of a 2 acre piece of land in Wilsden where we take all our dogs for them to be let of the leash and let them express themselves in a safe and secure environment. This is a very unique selling point for us and we are very proud of our land and how much the dogs love it.

Local Parks/Woodlands

In Bingley and its surrounding areas we are spoilt for choice when it comes to parks and woodlands. We on a daily basis also take our pets to St Ives, Chellow Dene and Cottingley Woods to ensure variety and stimulation.

Canal

You will also find us walking along the canal via the five rise locks from Riddlesden to Saltaire and is a great walk for the dogs and proves a hit with those doggies that need a one to one interaction.

Van

Our van is our office and our biggest asset to our business. We started our business with one and now their are two. The popularity of Alpha Pets has meant that we could not just operate using one van so we decided on purchasing another.

The vans are our biggest advertising tool as well, we have a trade agreement with Pennine Signs who do all our vehicle livery and we could not be happier with how they look.

The brand awareness our vans bring means we can always be seen around Bingley and its surrounding areas.
