About Our ProcessThe primary aged students at the Rosehill Enhanced Learning Center began our Literature Festival Mini-

Course in January. We read as many of the books you wrote or illustrated as

we could. While we read, we jotted down a few important things in the book that started with the various

letters of the alphabet. After looking at some other alphabet books, we

decided on the format you see. Next we signed up for the letters we wanted to write and illustrate. We tried to use unpredictable ideas for the text. We hope you don’t mind that we tried to draw a little bit like your books. We

even attempted some watercolor. It is much harder than we thought it would

be. Right before Spring Break, we finished our final drafts so we could

give this book this book to you today. We hope you like it.

P.S. We also have a special trick for you: look for our names hidden in

each illustration!

ABOUT THE AUTHORSThis alphabet book was created especially for Jon Muth by the

Kindergarten, First, Second, and Third Graders at the Rosehill Enhanced Learning Center.

The authors of Alphabet Ties are from thirteen schools in southern Johnson County who have been

identified as gifted and attend the Enhanced Learning Center once a

week. They enjoy higher level thinking activities and applying

creative thinking techniques, so their study of your books and art have

been a joyous adventure. These 40 promising authors will be publishing more in the future, so watch for their

names on best seller lists in the years to come.
