Alpirsbacher Kloster Dunkel is an unusual beer speciali-ty and representative of our cherished Black forest beer culture. The skills of the old brewing craft which have been passed down over the centuries combined with our excellent water enable the master brewers of the Alpirs-bacher Klosterbräu brewery to produce a dark beer of ex-cellent intensity. Finest special malt from Munich lends it its dark red-black colour. The elementary forces of the Black Forest in liquid form – in our Kloster Dunkel they have quite a striking effect.

Alpirsbacher Klosterbräu Kloster Dunkel marks the absolute origin of all our beer types because the bre-akthrough of the pale beer styles did not take place until approximately 100 years ago. Only then did further de-velopment of the brewing and malting technologies pave the way for great-tasting beers to be produced with paler malt which had undergone a shorter malting process. So our dark Kloster Dunkel can claim to be the forefather of all beers in its traditional form.
