COOKING CORNERMeatballs2 c. corn flakes1 lb hamburger2 Tbsp catsup¼ c milk1 tsp. salt1/8 tsp pepper1 egg¼ c onionSauce2 Tbsp pickle relish¼ c catsup1 cup tomato sauce2 Tbsp onion, chopped2 Tbs[ brm sugar1/8 tsp pepper1 Tbsp Worcestershire sauce¼ c waterPlace corn flakes, crushed, in mixing bowl. Add next 7 ingredients and mix thoroughly.Bake patties @ 400 degrees until brown. Combine the rest of the ingredients and stir frequently while heating stove top 20 minutes.Pour over meatballs and keep hot until serving time.

Sausage Balls1 lb sausage3 c Bisquick2 c. grated cheddar cheese or8oz Cheeze Whiz & ½ c milkBake on cookie sheet 20 min at 350 deg.

No Bake Cookies2 c sugar¼ c cocoa1 Tbsp butter½ c milk4 Tbsp peanut butter1 tsp Vanilla3 c quick oatsMix first 4 ingredients and cook in saucepaan bringing to a rolling boil 3 min. Remove from heat and add remaining ingredients. Drop

by heaping spoonfuls on buttered cookie sheet and let set until firm.

Peanut Butter Cookies1 c peanut butter1 egg1 c sugar1 tsp vanillaMix all together & drop by spoonful on cookie sheet. Bake 15 minutes at 325 degrees.

Ice Box Cookies1 cup butter½ tsp Liquid Sweetener1 egg2 ½ cups flour1 tsp vanillaDash of saltForm roll. Chill. Slice 1/8 'Bake in 350 deg. oven 8­10 min.

Butterfinger Pie3 large Butterfinger candy bars1 large cool whip1 graham or chocolate crustCrush 3 large Butterfingers between sheets of wax paper. Add to a large Cool Whip. Place in graham cracker crust. Refrigerate or Freeze. No need to thaw.

Cherry Chocolate Dessert1 box chocolate cake mix2 eggs1 can cherry pie fillingMix well. Bake in 9x13 pan at 350 degrees for 30 minutes until done. Cool, cut in squares and serve

with ice cream or whipped cream.

Rocky Road Squares12 oz chocolate chips14 oz sweetened cond. Milk2 Tblsp butter1 pkg mini marshmallows1 c chopped nutsMelt first 3 ingredients over low heat. Combine next two and mix well. Spread in cake pan. Chill and cut.

Potato Candy1 lb powdered sugar1 medium potato, cooked & cooled1 7 oz pkg coconut¼ c peanut butter2 (1 oz) sq. sweet baking chocolateMash potato; add sugar, coconut, and peanut butter. Mix well.Press in pie plate. Melt chocolate and spread on top. Refrigerate until firm. Cut into wedges to serve.

Alton Area Chamber of Commerce Newsletter for September 2020

The Alton Area Chamber of Commerce has walnuts available for purchase at Youngs Feed Store on the square. They are $12.00 a 16oz bag which is approximately 3 cups. We also have T­shirts from last year available that start at $10.00. The next Chamber meeting is scheduled for October 15, 2020. We are evaluating the Covid situation in our community as we go. We appreciate all understanding as these are new circumstances for all of us. We are still making plans for the 2021 Walnut Festival.
