You can reach the contemporary bedrooms in the RIBA award-winning Hyde building via a spacious, modern lift; they are fitted with walk-in “wet room” bathrooms. The teaching studios are also fully accessible.

The ground floor of the house – dining room, hall and library – is also easily accessed via a shallow ramp and automatic doors, however there are no disabled toilets in the house.

A flat car park next to the house and Hyde is reserved for disabled guests.

You can enjoy the gardens, with flat paving and a ramp down to the croquet lawn. A private lane affords access to the park, although you will need to be able to cross a cattle grid.The only part of the estate that is difficult to access is the Wilderness, Dillington’s private woodland.

BOOKINGYou can reserve your place via the Altwoode website (www.altwoode.com) – this includes a form for your personal details – or via telephone (in which case booking forms will be sent via email). After we have received your booking information and payment, we shall send you the joining instructions and directions. Your place will not be secured until we have received full payment.

CANCELLATIONWe reserve the right to cancel your booking. If this is the case, we shall naturally reimburse you the whole amount you have paid. If you cancel your place, you will forfeit a percentage of your course fee, depending on how close to the start date you cancel. For cancellations up to 12 weeks before the start date you will receive a full refund. If you cancel between 12 and 4 weeks before the course start date you will forfeit 50% of the full course fee. Cancellations within 4 weeks of the course start date will forfeit the full amount paid.

AMENDMENTIf you cannot attend the course and wish to transfer your place to someone else, we offer amendment at no cost.

ESSENTIAL INFORMATION

HEALTHThis course does not require strenuous physical activity – indeed, disabled guests are welcome. However if you have any health problems, it is your responsibility to obtain proper and detailed medical advice before participating in this course.

ACCOMMODATIONVisit England has classified Dillington as a 5* campus. Rooms are all en-suite and furnished to a high standard. Dillington is a house, not a hotel; therefore some amenities (such as room service) that one might expect from a hotel of equivalent standing are not available. Main house bedrooms are accessed via steep stairs, so please notify us of any accessibility requirements; fully accessible rooms are available in the Hyde.

LUGGAGEYou may bring as much luggage as you like. However we cannot be held responsible for any loss or damage to your personal property. Items are brought at your own risk. We have taken all reasonable steps to create a secure environment: the estate is not open to the public, is protected with CCTV, and all bedrooms are lockable.

INTERNETFree wi-fi is available, but please note that bandwidth in rural Somerset is quite limited. Please feel free to bring your devices if you like, but we suggest that you might prefer to embrace an escape from technology for a couple of days!

QUALIFICATIONThis course is not suitable for children. The minimum age for participants is 18. There is no maximum age. No qualifications or specific academic experiences are required to participate fully in this course. It is designed to be enjoyed by anyone with a solid basic education. This course is a two day taster of various creative fields. It is not professional training. We do not offer qualifications on completion.

CURRENCYAll prices are in £Sterling. All meals and tuition are included in the course fee, so the only money you may require during the course is some cash for the bar.

SPECIAL REQUESTSAny special requests, including dietary requirements, must be advised in writing or telephone well before the course start date. We will make every effort to put arrangements in place.

CLOTHINGCasual attire is acceptable during the day. For dinner, formal dress is requested; black tie is encouraged! We suggest that you bring waterproofs and stout shoes if you want to enjoy the estate – the paths are likely to be muddy.
