The location for the picnic luncheon will be on the grounds of the Rutherford Parks Library and our dinner/dance will be at the Lebanon Golf and Country Club. Currently, our investment account is at $111,239.25. We have a balance of $1,879.60 in regular checking, $32,661.73 in the LTA account, and $24,505.69 in the Library account. In July, we will be funding 5 scholarships for $1,500 each for a total of $7,500. In addition to the 5 scholarships, we have a new scholarship this year that was pri- vately funded for $2,000 for a female student who chooses to attend one of the following 3 universities: Belmont Uni- versity, Cumberland University, or David Lipscomb University. This scholarship is in memory of Alexis Rae Tipton, daughter of Ashley Shane Kippes Tipton ‘88, and granddaughter of Cheryl “Goldie” Kippes. Mrs. Kippes provided the funds for this scholarship. As of May 4, 2019, we have received donations of $33,125 for the general fund and $17,641 for the library fund. A total of 340 donors contributed to the fundraisers. These figures are from the beginning of our June 2018 fundraiser through May 4 of this year and includes scholarship contributions. an Alumni Questionnaire to be completed and re-

turned to us. Some of the information you send us will

be used in the August newsletter in our “Alumni

Update” section.

For this year’s Homecoming, plans are being made for

reunions for the classes of 1959, 1964, 1969, and 1979.

Hopefully, the classes of 1974 and 1984 will have reun-

ions. Please call Jennifer Franklin Winfree at

615/477-9762 or email Jennifer at

[email protected] if you need information

on your class members to help with your reunion. We

will be happy to provide you with a roster of names,

addresses, phone numbers, and email.

Our next Board of Directors meeting will be on

Saturday, July 13 at the Ingram Alumni House starting

at 11 a.m.

Recently we completed the rebuilding of the wheels on

the cannon as well as the construction of a concrete pad

for the cannon. The cost of the cannon wheels was

covered by an alumnus who wished to remain anony-

mous. Donations from the class of 1959 and individual

donors from the class of 1957 and 1958 paid for the

concrete pad.

At present, major repairs are being carried out to

correct leaks on the Library roof. WASCO, Inc. of

Nashville is under contract to do the following: (1)

tuck point brick parapet on all elevations (cut out

and tuck point brick mortar joints on the para-

pets) at a cost of $20,631, (2) remove stone caps at

battlements and install new flashing; reinstall

stone caps, and repair brick at a cost of $12,990.

So far they have been working on the roof for

nearly 3 weeks. These repairs are both costly

repairs, but are necessary in order to better

stabilize the building. Any contributions would be

appreciated to help defray the above costs.

Please be sure to reserve the weekend of

Saturday, October 12, for the 2019 Homecoming.

We hope to see many of you back for Homecoming this

year. We have been fortunate over the years to have

good turnouts from both individual class reunions as

well as others who return to campus on a regular basis.

Speaking for the Board of Directors, I want to sincerely

thank all of you for your continued support of the

Alumni Association.

Best Regards,

Rob Hosier ‘63
