THOUGHT FOR THE WEEK:
REJOICE! Today has traditionally been called “Gaudete Sunday.” The Latin tag is derived from Paul’s appeal in the second reading to “rejoice always in the Lord,” and the Latin Mass text based on that reading. The irony and par-adox of this Christian joy is underlined by the fact that Paul wrote those words in prison. But from there he could see the progress of God’s work. Is it obvious to us? We feel that this is not the time for joy when there is so much suffering and moral evil. It is interesting, then, that the first reading is from the prophet Zephaniah, who is almost exclusively concerned with gloomy visions of Judgment Day. Today the Church selects the only optimistic text in Zeph-aniah, in which the prophet has been touched by the spirit of joy. This, we are assured on all sides, is “the sea-son of joy.” Let us recapture that feeling of joy in our lives and reflect it to those who are joy-less. Copyright © J. S. Paluch Co
PENSAMIENTO DE LA SEMANA:
¡REGOCÍJATE! El día de hoy se le ha llamado tradicional-mente “Domingo Gaudete” o de la “Alegría”. El nombre latino se deriva de la petición de Pedro en la segunda lectura de “alégrense siempre en el Señor”, y del texto de la Misa en latín en el que está basada esta lectura. La ironía y para-doja de esta alegría cristiana se manifiesta en el hecho que Pablo escribió esas palabras en la prisión. Pero desde allí podía ver el progreso de la obra de Dios. ¿Nos parece obvio a nosotros? Sentimos que este no es un tiempo para la alegría cuando hay tanto sufrimiento e inmoralidad. Es intere-sante, entonces, que la primera lectura sea del profeta Sofonías, que está casi exclusivamente preocupado con sombrías visiones del Día del Juicio. Hoy la Iglesia selecciona la única parte optimista de Sofonías, donde el profeta es toca-do por el espíritu del gozo. Esta es, se nos asegura en todas partes, “la temporada de la alegría”. New Mass Schedule for the Year 2018

If language is not noted Mass will be in English. There are no changes to the weekend schedule only to the weekday schedule. Also please note that on the First Friday of eve-ry month the afternoon (6 pm) Mass will be Bilingual.
Preparation Course for Marriage In the first week of December, five couples finished their premarital preparation course (also called Pre-cana) in Spanish and are now arranging the details of their weddings.
Two of them will celebrate their regular wedding in December and January. The other three couples will celebrate together their marriages in a single mass that we usually call Convalidation or Community Wedding on February 16, 2019. The ministries in charge of this formation are Temo & Sonia Alvarado (650) 270-5848) who have belonged to the Family
Ministry of the Archdiocese for more than 20 years. We also have another couple of Formators in our par-ish: Romy & Gerry Agloro - (650) 872-3540 who give the same courses in English.
The topics are varied and extremely useful for cou-ples: our Childhood and the Love of God, Dialogue and Communication, Values and Conflicts, Intimacy and Sexuality, the Sacrament of Marriage, Responsi-ble Parenthood, Contraceptives and Body Theology.
It is very important to contact the parish secretary six or nine months in advance to have enough time to search the necessary documents, fill out the forms and follow the previous preparation. The require-ments are:
• Obtain the Baptism Certificates updated of 2019 in their countries of origin. • Fill out the pre-nuptial questioning. • Bring two freedom witnesses (familiar rela-tives) • Present the Civil Marriage Certificate. • Pay the stipend of $ 500 for regular wedding and $ 100 for validation. 2018 Virgin Mary Guadalupe Pilgrimage
Once again, our parish had the honor of being on Satur-day, December 8 at 5:00 am, the starting point of the Archdiocesan Guadalupana Pilgrimage that ended at the Cathedral of Santa Maria in San Francisco with a solemn mass presided by Archbishop Salvatore Cordileone at 2:00 p.m. The purpose was to unite ourselves in a single faith, walk and pray for the health of the sick, for immigration reform, for world peace and justice, for our personal intentions, with the intercession of The Queen of the Americas "Our Lady of Guada-lupe”. Pilgrims from all over the Bay Area gathered together to pray, sing and walk on pilgrim-age to hon-or Our Lady of Guadalupe in this year in which was celebrated the 25th anniversary of the procession, and where more than 30,000 pilgrims participated. May the Virgin of Guadalupe help us to build a more fraternal and more just society in the Americas.

Cruzada Guadalupana de San Francisco
Una vez más, nues-tra parroquia ha te-nido el honor de ser el Sábado 8 de Di-ciembre a las 5:00 am, el punto de par-tida de la peregrina-ción Guadalupana Arquidiocesana que termino en la Cate-dral de Santa María en San Francisco con una misa so-lemne presidida por el Señor Arzobispo Salvatore Cordileone a las 2:00 pm. Nuestro pro-pósito fue unirnos en una sola Fe, Caminar y Orar por la salud de los enfermos, por una reforma mi-gratoria, por la paz y justicia mundial, por nuestras intenciones personales, con la intercesión de La Reina de América “Nuestra Señora de Guadalupe”. Peregrinos de todo el Área de la Bahía se reunieron así para orar, cantar y caminar en peregrinación para honrar a Nuestro Señora de Guadalupe en este año en que se cumplió el 25 aniversario de la procesión, y donde participaron más de 30,000 pe-regrinos. Que la Virgen de Guadalupe nos ayude a construir en las Améri-cas, una socie-dad más fraterna y más humana.
Curso de Preparación Prematrimonial
La primera semana de Diciembre, cinco parejas aca-baron su curso de preparación Prematrimonial (llamado también Precana) y están ultimando los deta-lles de sus bodas.
Dos de ellos celebraran su Boda nupcial regular en Diciembre y Enero. Las otras tres parejas restantes celebraran juntas la regularización de sus matrimonios en una única misa que solemos denominar Convalida-ción o Boda comunitaria el 16 de Febrero próximo.
Los responsables de esta formación son Temo & So-nia Alvarado (650) 270-5848) que pertenecen desde hace más de 20 años a la Pastoral Familiar de la Ar-quidiócesis. También disponemos en nuestra parro-quia de otra pareja de Formadores: Romy & Gerry Agloro – Home (650) 872-3540 que dan los mismos cursos en Ingles.
Los temas son variados y sumamente útiles para las parejas: nuestra Infancia y el Amor de Dios, Dialogo y Comunicación, Valores y Conflictos, la Intimidad y Se-xualidad, el Sacramento del Matrimonio, Paternidad Responsable, Anticonceptivos y la Teología del Cuer-po. Es muy importante contactar a la secretaria pa-rroquial con seis o nueve meses de anticipación para tener tiempo suficiente para buscar los documentos necesarios, llenar los formularios necesarios y seguir la preparación previa. Los requisitos son: • Obtener los Certificados de Bautismos actualizados del 2019 en sus países de origen. • Llenar el interrogatorio prenupcial. • Traer dos testigos de libertad (familiares cono-cidos) • Presentar el Certificado de Matrimonio Civil. • Pagar el estipendio de $ 500 por Boda regular y $ 100 por Convalidación.
