Both the circus and workshop spaces glow with warmth and wonder from the inside. This visual energy emits to the outside but there is only one entrance in. People must navigate their desire to be a guest or student to the craft of circus arts.

Lantern Glow

Guests are lured through and up a tunnel, during their journey they see little glimpses of process rooms. All to arrive upon a circus above the crowds. Those process spaces surround the circus tent, workshop and gym facilities are open for observation and invite people to join and learn below.

One main entrance for everything circus. Gym is front and center at the entrance. The workshops are deeper within the building’s first two floors. A winding staircase brings people from the entrance to the second floor, and then up again to the third floor. All the while they see all the different aspects of this exploration center.

Teatro ZinZanni was originally founded by Norman Langill and established in 1998. He was inspired by the great cabarets during his travels in Europe. Langill brought back a tent and created his own immerse circus and dining experience for the community in Seattle.

The overarching goal is to create a place that allows people to improve and share their craft with others.

A new home for Teatro ZinZanni, so they can remain within the downtown Seattle area and the circus community can still stay connected to the strong existing theater network. This will also allow them to maintain their current local following.

A workshop center that brings all facets of Teatro ZinZanni’s productions teams together while highlighting their hard work and craft to the public.

A gym that invites people to try out methods of circus performance. To act on that inspiration from seeing a circus performance and try it for themselves.

Hideaway Nooks - An Intergenerational Home

The Challenge:Revitalizing the Gehoft. Located in Stuttgart Germany this old An old Geohoft structure is a cluster of houses making up a larger com-plex. This Gehoft is to be re-purposed as an intergenerational center. Program includes a preschool, college dorms, and senior housing. Studio taught using metric scale.

Spring 2017 Design Studio

The Concept:Small dwelling clusters have windows that open up to views that expand beyond the boundary of the unit. The feeling of coziness, and warmth are present everywhere. The ground floors are broken up into smaller corners of space that encourage the interaction between generations, while the courtyard invites larger gatherings to take place.

The Port, a Boutique Hotel + Bubble Tea Bar

The Challenge:To transform a small building in downtown Springfield, Oregon into a boutique hotel. Proj-ect focuses specifically on the first floor which includes hotel lobby, check in/out station, lounge areas, bubble tea bar, and ADA guest rooms.

Spring 2018 Working Drawings Studio

The Concept:Round portals frame views and destinations that pull visitors through the hotel lobby. These portals feature the bubble tea that is served, or the hotel amenities that are offered on site.

Workshop on Broadway - Theater Support Center

The Challenge:To redesign the interior of a building in down-town LA into a theater support center. Program includes rehearsal studios, collaboration spac-es, print stations, performance stages, and bar.

Fall 2016 Design Studio

The Concept:This space would playfully invert the creation and presentation of art. Rehearsal spaces would be transparent and showcase the art-ist’s progress while the theater would become a more private place for intimate performances that really work to connect with the audiences.

The 08 Chair

The Challenge:To design a chair for the foot washing room in the Student Union Building at the University of Oregon. The chair should accommodate for any body and provide a comfortable surface to sit on while washing ones’ feet.

Winter 2018 Furniture Studio

The Concept:As people wash their feet they mentally clear their minds of the busy day in preparation for their meditation or prayer. This chair gives people that place to perch. Low to the ground for the best comfort for cleansing. Made with honest materials that have soft rounded edges to the touch.

Container Kitchen

The Challenge:An adaptive re-use project that aims to trans-form an old paper warehouse in Copenhagen, Denmark into a cooking school for children and cafe. Flexible programing is encouraged to juggle the needs of both the classroom, kitchen, and dining spaces. Studio taught using metric scale.

Summer 2016 Design Studio

The Concept:The goal for this complex was to create three main areas that highlighted cooking. These spaces would be small containers of space within the larger flex-space. Each place would have a distinct color to identify with.

James and the Giant PeachSet Design for K-12 School

The Challenge:Former high school reached out for design help for their production of James and the Giant Peach. The peach set piece would need to be able to support 5 children, be easi-ly movable, and expand/contract for multiple performances. This piece would be constructed by local parents and on a tight budget. Design should be easy to understand/construct, and

From 2016 and 2017

The Concept:The base scaffolding on wheels would sup-port the children and move across the stage. Attached would be a series of hula hoops of different sizes with netting sewn in the middle like dream catchers. These hoops could be added or removed to show the growth of the peach. The netting would add layers of peach color that could sparkle and catch the light.

Iphigenia at AulisSet Design

The Challenge:This Greek tragic play is all about confrontation and the sense of belonging and sacrifice. The set design should communicate this hostile environment in which the series of events play out upon.

Set Design 1 Winter 2016

The Concept:Walking on thin ice was a phrase that guided the inter workings of this piece. It was important to show the audience that all the actors are floating on a thin sheet that could break at any moment. The confusion of emotions is the blizzard that blinds them all as they trek across the icy stage.
