Amendment 2The right to bear arms

This amendment was created December 15 1791 along with the rest of the Bill of Rights. It was based of the natural rights.

The main definition of the second amendment is..

A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed.

The term "regulated" means "disciplined" or "trained”. In Heller, the U.S. Supreme Court stated that "[t]he adjective 'well-regulated' implies nothing more than the imposition of proper discipline and training.”

The NRAThe National Rifle Association (NRA) was formed by Union veterans , Col. Williams, C. Church, and Gen. George Wingate. The NRA was formed to promote rifle shooting on a scientific basis.

Today the NRA hold youth programs which hold shooting events and are associated with the Boy Scouts, the American Legion, etc.

The Second Amendment was made so that people in the 1700’s could defend their selves when there was no federal government. This was so that they could create a militia when they needed to fight off other people.

The right to bear arms was also partially thought as a natural right before the bill passed.

There are many interpretations of the Second Amendment

Some people believe that the government is the enemy, and citizens must continue to protect themselves.

Some believe that the level of violence is so high in the United States because the number of guns available is too high, and too many people have guns.

There is a popular saying that, "If you outlaw guns, only outlaws will have guns." Another popular saying is, "Guns don't kill people, people do.

The government can and does regulate guns. There are laws about gun ownership, registration, permits, transportation of guns, and the sales of guns. Gun proponents believe that attempts by the government to regulate guns are the same as attempts to keep guns out of the hands of the people.

Guns and youth violence are in the news almost daily and there are arguments about whether or not the dangers are on the rise or on the decline.
