Members and companies wishing to take full advantage of the campaign’s planned donor recognition opportunities are encouraged to submit their signed pledge forms to the ACP Education Foundation’s campaign office as quickly as possible.

Realizing the Promise of Science & Technology portion of the funds raised during the cam-paign will be used to help create a new generation of researchers and key opinion leaders. Programs envisioned include inves-tigations in digital technologies, biologicals and patient-based research. Expanded CE offerings such as technology conferences and training workshops will help promote a culture of innovation and early adoption. Vision 2012 seeks to better prepare prost-hodontic practitioners to take full advan-tage of the latest advancements in dentistry. By addressing this goal, the campaign will help to ensure patients increased treatment options and state-of-the-art dental care.

A major theme arising from the ACP’s 2006 Summit on the Future of Prosthodon-tics was the need to embrace emerging science and technologies with the potential to significantly enhance prosthodontic pa-tient care. Prosthodontists have estab-lished a reputation as innovators at the forefront of new dental tools and treat-ments. The need to keep pace with break-throughs in dental equipment and tech-niques is further emphasized considering the prominent role that prosthodontists play as educators within dental schools and continuing education programs. The ACP Education Foundation is committed to ad-dressing this need through Vision 2012. A

$6,000,000 Additional campaign pledges from ACP members, corporate industry suppliers and organizations with a stake in the future of Prosthodontics have increased the cam-paign’s total amount committed to more than $5 million. Zest Anchors, a corporate donor to the Foundation’s last campaign, joined the list of Vision 2012 campaign corporate partners with a Director’s Circle commitment of $100,000. Having recently launched a broad request for member investment in Vision 2012, members of the campaign’s National Steer-ing Committee are excited about the cam-paign’s remaining fundraising potential. Funds raised through Vision 2012 will help underwrite several proposed ACP initia-tives vital to the future of the specialty. Additionally, campaign contributions will help to strengthen the ACPEF’s endowment fund, providing a long-term source of finan-cial support for programs and services criti-cal to advancing the Foundation’s mission. A campaign celebration highlighting leadership volunteers and donors has been scheduled to take place at the upcoming 2008 ACP Annual Session in Nashville, Tennessee. Campaign gifts from members, corporate partners and organizations sharing the ACP’s passion for quality dental care will be recognized in several different

  • specialty. Nobel Biocare’s pledge is a natu-ral extension of our shared commitment to facilitate continuous improvement and optimal patient care. We hope others will join us in pledging their support.” As the world’s largest provider of dental implants and CAD/CAM restorative products, Nobel Biocare has maintained a leadership role in supporting both the ACP’s Annual Session and past ACPEF initiatives. When asked what motivated the company’s historic $1,500,000 commitment, Mosher replied, “Prosthodontists play a unique and vital role in the dental community as both clinicians and educators. ACP’s stated campaign vision to keep prosthodontists at the forefront of science and technology is an excellent fit with Nobel Biocare’s focus on providing innovative solutions for the dental patient community. Ongoing research and quality educational opportunities are para-mount to achieving these objectives.” This significant gift to the Vision 2012: Brilliant Futures campaign is one part of Nobel Biocare’s global commitment to dental education. They have also provided significant gifts to dental schools to create and strengthen predoctoral programs in implant restoration and CAD/CAM dentistry. In addition, Nobel Biocare has partnered with several institutions, most notably Loma Linda University and Medical College of Georgia, to support their development of innovative teaching tools and methods for dentistry. The Loma Linda Implant DVD, for example, is distributed to thousands of dental educators and students worldwide through a Nobel Biocare educational gift. Nobel Biocare is a big believer in patient education as well. The company recently launched a digital video network for dental offices to help address a growing demand for patient healthcare information. The NobelVision™ Network is a customized channel of dental healthcare information specifically designed to educate the patients of Nobel Biocare's customers on their dental options. Network programming includes quality educational, informational and entertainment segments delivered via an IP-based, networked narrowcast system.

Nobel Biocare presents the content on large flat-panel screens installed in dental offices. Content partners and advertisers are able to share updateable product and service information to their patients await-ing service. Currently, there are over 500 dental offices with NobelVision™ installed, with plans for 1,000 by the end of 2008. Nobel Biocare sees synergies between patient education efforts and the ACP’s push to drive growth in prosthodontics. “The NobelVision™ Network represents a strategic vehicle to deliver timely and rele-vant information to a growing population of patients that actively research their own healthcare options,” explained Mosher. “As an increasing population of patients in need of prosthodontic services continues to research available treatment options and dental specialties, awareness of and demand for the prosthodontic specialty will continue to grow. Meeting this need will require not only an expansion of prosthodontic pro-grams, but a concerted effort to attract a broader pool of highly qualified candidates to the specialty.” A portion of the funds raised through the campaign will support ACP specialty growth initiatives including highly competitive recruitment outreach, faculty incentives to help retain the finest educators in prostho-dontic programs throughout the nation, and funding to further develop the ACP’s Aca-demic Alliance Membership Program. Asked about where he sees the prostho-dontic specialty ten years from now Mosher replied, “I believe the success the specialty is currently experiencing will continue to grow. Increased demand for services coupled with breakthroughs in dental materials and technology make this an exciting time for the specialty. The ACP’s drive to enhance curriculum with a focus on science and technology will position the specialty well to address the challenges and opportunities arising in the new dental marketplace.”
