Eye-Opening Eye FactsIn recognition of Healthy
Vision Month during May, here’ssome clarity on common eyecare myths:
Myth: Reading in poor light willharm your eyes.
Fact: Reading in low light canstrain your eyes and make themfeel tired, but it will notpermanently damage your eyes.
Myth: Wearing glasses orcontacts will make yourvision worse.
Fact: Corrective lenses likeglasses and contacts cannotchange any part of your eyesthemselves. They simply changethe light rays that the eyesreceive, helping you see better. Itis common for people’s vision tochange over time due to age.
Myth: Sitting too close to theTV or staring at a computerscreen for too long is bad foryour eyes.
Fact: It’s true that looking atscreens can dry your eyes out, causing irritation and fatigue. Butyou can avoid these problems bytaking breaks from watching thescreen and resting your eyes.

American House Anthem(2015)
Text collected from residents ofAmerican House and edited/authored

Though some things stay andsome things do go, there is an oldsaying that still rings true: “Youcan’t take it with you.”
Time’s passed so quickly andmany fads have gone: Bobbysocks and saddle shores... Oh,remember those? We have seenand felt it all, and our hearts andsouls know:
Hold your loved ones tight.Share with them your smile. Familyand friends will make your lifeworthwhile. We’ve lived throughbrutal wars and know well thestrain, never knowing who iscoming home safe and sound. Wemade it through our darkest times.
The longer that we live, the more
we come to learn: Possessionscome and possessions go. Theyhave no love to give. We haveseen and felt it all, and our heartsand souls now know:
Hold your loved ones tight.Share with them your smile.Family and friends will make yourlife worthwhile.
We know!** The American House Anthem
was debuted on April 27th, 2016, atthe Detroit Symphony OrchestraMusic Box. Pictures to comenext Patriot!
