• In 1892 “Youth Companions” magazine published a pledge for the students to repeat on Columbus day.

• In 1923 a few changes were made and “MY FLAG” became “THE FLAG OF THE UNITED STATES.”

• In 1954 President Dwight Eisenhower added the words “UNDER GOD” in order to restore faith and religion.
