    IntroductionAlpha Media Holdings, (AMH) an inde-pendent media group in Zimbabwe, is

    looking or a dynamic and innovative Chieechnology Ocer (CO) to help developand drive the company orward in the age odigital and social news. Te successul can-didate will not only ensure the smooth run-ning, development and success o the AMHexisting businesses, but will be a main playerin identiying new opportunities or contentdelivery and advising on and providing thetools to succeed.

    Title: Chief Technology Ofcer

    DescriptionTe COs role at AMH is to mastermind,deliver and maintain all technical compo-nents o the companys business missionincluding planning or, advising on andimplementing agreed strategies or uturedevelopment and growth.

    Responsibilities

    Strategy & Planning Advise on opportunities or technical

    and content innovation and develop-ment across all areas o the AMH newsbusinesses.

    Keep senior management colleaguesinormed o any market and techni-cal obstacles that could threaten AMHservices.

    Work closely with all editorial heads toensure that technology is designed tomeet their content requirements andadvise on any new technology that theymay want to consider in order to be-come more eective and ecient.

    Assess, test and recommend the best

    technological platorms and devices tomaintain the delivery o AMH content. Prioritise eort and resources in order to

    deliver agreed strategic business goals. Set up the workows and roles and

    responsibilities needed to ensure thesmooth delivery o all AMH technicalneeds.

    Work across all departments to ensureall receive the same level o service inorder to assist them in achieving their

    departmental objectives. Introduce redundancy and recovery

    elements into all systems to ensure the

    smooth running o all AMH services. Set up secure technological systems to

    protect AMH databases that are robustand successully resist any external at-tacks.

    Establish internal best practice or theuse o technology by AMH sta and

    visitors. Updated AMH stakeholders with strate-

    gic reports when required.

    Implementation & Deployment Maintain and develop current news-

    room systems in order to ensure that thecurrent AMH business continues unin-terrupted.

    Maintain and develop the email systemsor the company.

    Keep a record o all AMH soware li-cences and ensure that all soware usedis up-to-date and legal.

    Manage internal communication sys-tems.

    Formal Education & Certication A university degree in computer science,

    soware development or similar disci-pline would be preerred. Te successulcandidate will have experience in mosto the ollowing areas.

    Demonstrated ability to manage largetechnical operations.

    Experience working in the media indus-try.

    Knowledge o the print, broadcast, on-

    line and social media industry. Experience managing teams. Experience in service level delivery to

    stakeholder and client groups. Experience reporting to board level in

    person and in writing. Familiarity with newsroom content

    management and news managementsystems.

    Experience working with open-source

    solutions. Familiarity with internet marketing and

    search engine optimisation (SEO).

    Understanding o multimedia, the use ovideo, audio, stills, graphics and onlinecuration tools.

    Familiarity with inormation securityvulnerabilities.

    Experience o risk management. Experience in system management, up-

    grade and development. Experience o business theory, busi-

    ness process development, governanceprocesses, management, budgeting, andadministrative operations.
