at the end of December, 1958 and the reasons for it.
Reasons.
(3)
i. The enactment of recent successive legislative measures surcharge Act Standardisation Act, Additional W e t Assessment Act, Inams Assessment Act, Commercial Crops Act, resulted in some delay and diCBculty in settlement of demands.
2. Arreais of the erstwhile estate areas have accumulated for several years and the merger of estates demands in the rcgul&r land revenue demand from October, 1955 has contributed to the accumuMion of arrears especially in districts oi Srikakulam, Visakhapatnam, Chit-toor and Nellore. Due to the integration of the Jagirs and Sarfekhas in the Diwani in the Hyderabad State, the an ears have considerably increased. In most of the cases relating to the ex-jagir and ex-saifekhas areas, there are no accounts available for these arrears (such as asamiwar particulars, survey numbers, fasliwar break up, etc.) with the result that the settlement or recovery of the arrears has become problematic.
3. The Village OfRcer's Strike fiom about the end of March, 1956 till August 1956 and from April, 1937 to the end of September, 1937 just dunng the Land Revenue collection season has also contributed to the accumulation of arrears.
4. Postponement of collections due to adverse seasonal conditions resulted in accumulation of arrears.
