    Initially released as Elite in 1984, the release of Elite for the Amiga in 1991 added several new items to the game. was the first game in the series to se a lan!hing bay animation, and an advan!ed options s!reen, setting the standarfor the games to follow.     Amiga was the only version of the game to have the deadly (olf )$ II !lass ship. )edi!al *pplies were added to th!ommodities, whi!h was later e+panded to a starting mission for &&E. Add in a swarm of bad gys and %hargoids, daomnios graphi!s, stereo msi!, and phase shifting of the adio, and get ready for a serios wor$ot with yor oysti!$-

    yor !rrent speed setting is at ma+imm, and no other obe!ts are within s!anner range of yor ship.

    %he Irri5ondrive is sed to hyperspa!e to another system. *ele!t a planet on the 3o!al lster hart M&CN that is witha D. ly mp range /white !ir!le0. )ove the !rsor to it, then type M*AEN. A distan!e vale will be given, and yor drivwill also be lo!$ed to it.

    %he 6e3or-Hi5an Interglati Hy,ers,aedrive is sed to mp from one gala+y to the ne+t in nmeri!al order. ta$es one drive for EAH gala+y mp, so yo will need to by another one in the ne+t gala+y. %ype MGN then MHN thyperspa!e to the ne+t gala+y.

    distan!e information on systems. %he !rrent hyperspa!e range is displayed with a large white or red !ir!le arond th!rrent position. %his siLe of the !ir!le !hanges, depending pon the amont of hyperspa!e fel onboard the ship. %hdistan!e $ey M5N is sed in the 3o!al lster hart to find the distan!e from yor !rrent position, to the system nearesthe O!stomP !rosshair. %he M&N $ey when do!$ed will prompt for a system to find. %he !rsor $eys !an move the !sto!rsor to a system, and the M*AEN $ey will sele!t the system. li!$ing on a system with the mose does the samthing. *ele!ting a system within range, sing any of the methods, will atomati!ally sele!t that system as the hyperspa!!oordinate. Fn!e sele!ted, the 5ata on *ystem page M&DN will display detailed information on the system. %he *tatpage M&9N will always show the present system yo are in, and the system yo are lo!$ed to for a hyperspa!e mp.

    Amiga Elite is one of the most aggressive !ombat versions of the game. o will sally be atta!$ed by grops enemy ships, even in what is regarded as O*afeP systems. In Anar!hy systems yo are also atta!$ed, with the additio

    that the enemy ships $eep !oming at yo in waves. &ailre to i!$ly dispat!h the first wave of ships, !an get yo introble with the ne+t wave. Fn!e an enemy ship is within range, and fires at yo, they rarely miss. roper !ombate!hnies, as des!ribed below, are essential for srvival.

    %he rear laser, espe!ially a beam type, allows yo to fire at atta!$ing ships while speeding away from them. %his giveyo more time to $ill them before they $ill yo. %his manver is essential when a pa!$ of ships, in!lding a %hargoid ana (olf )$ II, are on yor tail. 3ater, as yor s$ills and weapons improve, yo !an go head#on with the enemy.
