Wilson Tactical

Berryville, AR --(Ammoland.com)- For over a decade, WILSON

TACTICAL the knife and tool division of WILSON COMBAT has brought

the finest in quality edged tactical tools to our discriminating clientele.

For 2011 we are raising the bar and will be offering a limited collection of

handmade knives by some of today’s premier tactical knife makers

without the long wait typically associated with special ordering a custom

edged masterpiece.

These newly designed knives featured in the new CUSTOM ALLIANCE

will be few in number, and will quickly become a valued centerpiece of

your collection. These offerings will typify the WILSON standards of

extraordinary quality, classic design and unmatched value.

Master Bladesmith Burt Foster of Bristol, VA has been impressing

collectors for years with his superb fit and finish, clear artistic vision and

use of rare and unusual materials in his high-performance hand forged

knives. His latest creation exclusive to the Custom Alliance is the Iron

Wave. With this unique bowie, Foster transforms simple materials-

carbon and stainless steels along with spalted, stabilized maple into

works of practical high art.

Burt’s technique of marrying stainless and carbon steel into a heat-fused,

razor-sharp laminate renders an almost indestructible, yet intensely

unique and beautiful knife. The rock-hard spalted maple develops it’s

characteristic black contrasting highlights over many years and every

handle will be uniquely beautiful. Each Iron Wave will have a handmade

leather sheath by Mr. Foster. This rare item is limited to 10 pieces.

Burt Foster has a life long passion for the outdoors and its activities

which has shown him the importance of having a sharp tool. Burt began

making knives full-time in 2001 and a few years later he earned the

rating of Master Bladesmith in the American Bladesmith Society.

“My laminated steel blades are unique in that they have a

single piece of carbon steel forge welded between two pieces

of stainless steel. This is also referred to in Japanese blades as

“san-mai” or literally “three layers.” There are basically two

main advantages to my laminated steel blades. The first is

that at the temperatures used to harden the carbon steel core,

the stainless sides remain soft and support the hard center.

This makes the knife very sharp at the edge, but very tough

overall. The second advantage is that because my laminated

steel is made with stainless steel on the outside, the knife

blade has the performance of carbon steel and the

maintenance of a stainless steel.

The carbon steel core is exposed only near the edge, so 90%

of the blade surface remains very stain resistant. The exposed

carbon steel will darken with age, but this darkening adds to

the look of the knife, and gives you a knife which when used,

improves with age instead of the other way around. This

composite blade construction is probably the most practical

high performance blade you can have.” – Burt Foster

Ducks Unlimited Partners WithVDGIF To Conserve Habitat InVirginiaJUN 22, 2011 04:23P.M.

Ducks Unlimited Partners With VDGIF & Others To Conserve

Habitat In Virginia

Acquisition protects habitat and provides outdoor recreation

opportunities.

Ducks Unlimited

MCCLUSKY, N.D. --(Ammoland.com)- Ducks Unlimited recently

partnered with the Virginia Department of Game and Inland Fisheries

and others to purchase a 2,542 acre Wildlife Management Area in

Caroline County, Virginia.

The site was purchased in late 2010 and will be open for public use,

including waterfowl hunting in 2011. Of the acres purchased, 820 consist

of wetlands that provide resources for waterfowl and other wetland

dependent wildlife species.

Ducks Unlimited provided $30,000 in funding toward the $2.4 million

purchase of Mattaponi WMA. In addition to numerous other funding

avenues, VDGIF used $400,000 from the Virginia Migratory Waterfowl

Stamp Fund, which is derived from the sale of Virginia Duck Stamps, to

protect this diverse landscape in the headwaters of the Mattaponi River.

“Mattaponi WMA boasts excellent habitat for wildlife,

including expansive wetlands that are critical for waterfowl

and other wetland dependent wildlife species in Virginia,”

said DU regional biologist Ben Lewis. “Ducks Unlimited is

proud to partner with VDGIF on this acquisition and pleased

to help provide additional public hunting opportunities to

Virginia residents.”

Other partners include The Nature Conservancy, the U.S. Fish and

Wildlife Service through the Federal Assistance in Wildlife Restoration

Program, The Trust for Public Land and the U.S. Department of Defense

through their Army Compatible Use Buffer Program.

Ducks Unlimited is the world’s largest nonprofit organization dedicated

to conserving North America’s continually disappearing waterfowl

habitats. Established in 1937, Ducks Unlimited has conserved more than

12 million acres thanks to contributions from more than a million

supporters across the continent. Guided by science and dedicated to

program efficiency, DU works toward the vision of wetlands sufficient to

fill the skies with waterfowl today, tomorrow, and forever.

Team ITI Strong Showing At2011 IDPA Carolina CupJUN 22, 2011 04:18P.M.

Team ITI Ups Class Titles For 2011 Into Double Digits With

Strong Showing At 2011 IDPA Carolina Cup

International Training Inc

SHACKLESFORD, VA --(Ammoland.com)- Newly minted Team

Captain Brandon Wright of Team International Training, Inc. (ITI) and

fellow teammate Gary Byerly shot strong this past weekend at the IDPA

Carolina Cup, held in Oxford, NC June 16-18, 2011, bringing home two

First Place Class titles for their team.

In an arena of over 350 competitors, Wright and Byerly were able to

stand out, securing First Place SSP Master (Fourth Overall) and First

Place CDP Master (5th Overall) respectively. This brings the teams

overall total to 11 class titles for the 2011 competitive shooting season.

“This year’s match was really straight forward. Frank Glover

did a great job in his overall stage designs and his staff was

top notch,” commented Wright.

“One of the things I feel was a big part in my game were the

Rudy Project glasses. I was able to wear clear lenses all day

and no matter what the environment (in a car or van, in the

woods or out in the sun); the glasses gave me the right tint

for the stage. Having the Rudy Project transitional lenses

continue to help my game.”

“The Carolina Cup staff put together what I believe to be their

best match yet, comprised of sixteen unique tests of skills that

covered the entire practical shooting skillset,” commented

Byerly.

“Quality practice and preparation is the key to finishing well

here. With the number of great shooters in attendance the

smallest misstep can drop you several places. My consistency

paid off with an excellent finish that I’m very proud of.

Congratulations to the Division winners and thank you to the

excellent staff.”

Byerly can be seen competing at the Virginia State IDPA at Kettlefoot,

held at the Kettlefoot Rod and Gun Club in Bristol, TN June 25, 2011.

Wright will next be competing at the Pro-Am Championship, held at the

Universal Shooting Academy in Frostproof, Florida July 15-17, 2011.

RMEF Moves to ProtectAppellate Rights in WolfDecisionJUN 22, 2011 02:32P.M.

RMEF Moves to Protect Appellate Rights in Wolf Decision

Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation

MISSOULA, Mont. --(Ammoland.com)- U.S. District Judge Donald

Molloy will decide whether Congress acted within Constitutional bounds

when it delisted wolves in parts of the West.

The Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation has filed notice of its intent to

appeal any decision that adversely affects states’ rights to manage fully

recovered wolf populations.

Molloy is expected to hear arguments soon from animal rights groups

and environmental extremists who sued to challenge the legality of

Congress’ recent action.

An unfavorable ruling could stop wolf management hunts planned for

fall in Idaho and Montana–even though elk calf survival rates in some

areas are already too low to sustain herds for the future.

“We are protecting our right to appeal to the 9th U.S. Circuit

Court of Appeals any decision that results in another setback

for conservation and science-based wildlife management,”

said David Allen, RMEF president and CEO.

“Our notice of intent to appeal includes a motion to stay any

unfavorable outcome pending our appeal process.”

As he did with other conservation groups, Molloy recently denied an

RMEF motion to intervene in the lawsuit. At least two groups filed a

second motion asking the judge to reconsider. RMEF opted for a

different response.

“We’re hoping for the best but preparing for the worst,”

explained Allen. “A decision could go either way because the

laws being challenged leave too much to interpretation. This

built-in gray area is the inherent problem with federal

rulemaking on wildlife that is not endangered or threatened.

All the science shows that wolves are recovered. But as long

as the federal government is involved, there will be more

lawsuits and, potentially, more unfavorable rulings. The new

motion we filed prepares us for that scenario.”

“We will continue to fight until all states, from the Rockies to

the Great Lakes, have true state management authority

unfettered with federal oversight,” he added.

About the Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation:

Snowy peaks, dark timber basins and grassy meadows. RMEF is leading

an elk country initiative that has conserved or enhanced habitat on over

5.7 million acres, a land area equivalent to a swath three miles wide and

stretching along the entire Continental Divide from Canada to Mexico.

RMEF also works to open, secure and improve public access for hunting,

fishing and other recreation. Get involved at www.rmef.org or 800-CALL

ships with patented Ruger scope rings, allowing a variety of sighting

options for this lightweight (5-1/2 pounds), quick-handling rifle.

“The 77/357 is an effective tool for hunting medium-sized

game – especially in heavy cover,” said Bruce Rozum, Chief

Rifle Engineer at Ruger.

“Bullet velocities of .357 Magnum ammunition increase

significantly when fired out of the 77/357′s 18 1/2″ cold

hammer-forged barrel. In testing, Hornady 140 grain FTX

loads were clocked at over 1820 feet per second.

Furthermore, the flush-fit, five-shot rotary magazine does not

protrude at the rifle’s balance point and, unlike tube-fed

rifles, the Ruger 77/357 can be readily loaded and unloaded,”

he concluded.

Why Gun Control Continues toSucceed in New JerseyJUN 22, 2011 09:22A.M.

Why Gun Control Continues to Succeed in New Jersey

By Frank Jack Fiamingo

State Mandated Victimhood and You - Perfect Together!

New Jersey Second Amendment Society

Manahawkin, New Jersey --(Ammoland.com)- In a recent study New

Jersey was ranked next to last in the amount of freedom we enjoy in our

state.

The only state to rank below New Jersey is New York State.

In terms of the number of regulations and restrictions imposed upon its

citizens, New Jersey is as close to the top as it is possible to imagine.

Why is this?

What else is it that distinguishes New Jersey from its sister states? I do

not pretend to be a “social scientist”, but I often hear people say that

New Jersey is the most densely populated state in the nation. Although I

understand what that means statistically, I am not quite sure how that

impacts our ability to enjoy the benefits of Freedom and Liberty.

I decided to pick up some of my old psychology text books and do a little

research. I was able to discover some interesting studies. If you put a

specific density of rats together in a cage, they will generally get along

together famously UNTIL you reach a certain “critical mass” at which

point the rats will turn upon each other and become increasingly

aggressive to the point of attacking each other. This led me to the

ultimate conclusion – that RATS should not be allowed to carry

concealed handguns.

The obvious problem is that you cannot apply the rules of behavior of

rats to those of rational human beings.

Are there any definitive studies that show that New Jersey

citizens are more likely to attack their neighbors than the

residents of any other state?

I might be convinced that certain restrictions “might” be necessary if that

point could be demonstrated. To my knowledge, it has not. What has

been demonstrated time and time again is as the rate of gun ownership

by law-abiding citizens goes up, violent crime rates, such as those for

murder and rape, go down. It does not take a social scientist to

understand why. Criminals are less likely to attack when there is an

increased chance that their intended victim might be armed.

In spite of this fact gun control continues to succeed in New Jersey. The

reason is obvious. It is because *WE* allow it to succeed. It should be a

priority of freedom loving conservatives to end gun control in New

Jersey, but it is not. The Second Amendment gets a lot of lip service from

conservatives, but little to no action. I see this first hand every day.

I hear all the excuses “Concealed Carry will *NEVER* pass

with THIS legislature”. “The majority of the people of New

Jersey are too liberal”.

This is the *SECOND* Amendment to the Constitution of the United

States of America. It doesn’t REQUIRE a majority to be respected. All

that is required is that enough freedom loving people DEMAND that

their rights not be infringed. No true conservative should be willing to sit

back and allow this situation to continue. If we allow one part of the

constitution to be ignored, we are risking that the rest of it will be

trampled upon. Do not forget why the original framers of the

Constitution decided to include the right to keep and bear arms in the

first place.

A disarmed citizenry is a tyrannical government’s highest

priority. That fact has not changed since we declared our

independence from the British.

ACTION:

It is not enough for you to say that you support the Second Amendment.

Your positive action is what is required. We need your voices, we need

your talents and we need your participation in the fight to restore and

preserve this precious right to defend ourselves and our families from

those who would do us harm.

If you need information on how to get involved, please feel free to

contact me. There are organizations such as the New Jersey Second

Amendment Society and the Association of New Jersey Rifle and Pistol

Clubs that you can join to help fight the liberal gun prohibitionists.

Once they succeed in achieving their goal of eliminating the right to keep

and bear arms in New Jersey, it will be nearly impossible to get it back.

Let’s not let that happen.

Wisconsin Passes ConcealedCarry LawJUN 22, 2011 09:08A.M.

Wisconsin Passes Concealed Carry Law

That just leaves Illinois as the only state that does not recognize the

bear in Keep & Bear Arms.

Wisconsin Passes Concealed Carry Law

AmmoLand Gun News

Wisconsin - -(Ammoland.com)- Wisconsin, with Illinois the only two

states in the country without ANY concealed carry law, has finally passed

a CCW bill and sent it to Republican Governor Walker for his signature.

The governor has said he will sign the bill. (Previous Democrat

Governor Jim Doyle vetoed two previous versions of the bill.)

SB 90 passed the state Senate two weeks ago; AB 136 passed the

Assembly yesterday, both with bi-partisan majorities. The bill will take

effect in October or November, depending on when the governor signs it.

The bill contains provision to recognize out-of-state CWPs, provided a

background check is required and training. There should be no problem

with Florida’s CWP being recognized.
