HB 2135• Students in grades 5 and 8 who are enrolled in an above
grade level or for HS credit…
• DO NOT have to take both STAAR EOC and STAAR grade level tests…
• This removes the SSI requirement for those students enrolled in higher level courses and taking EOCs…
• However, the student will still be required to take and pass the reading or math portion of the grade level STAAR exam provided they are not enrolled in both Algebra and English I.

A student is not required to retake a course in order to retake an EOC assessment
A school district shall provide accelerated instruction to each student who fails to perform satisfactorily on an EOC assessment
EOC assessments will be worth 15% of the student’s final grade for that course.
Dyslexia accommodations will be expanded to include English I, II, and III EOC exams.

Calculators must be supplied for Algebra I, II, Geometry, Chemistry, Biology, and Physics EOCs
