• Origami• Hina Dolls

- Origami is a traditional art which is mostly famous in Asia. - Origami uses only a small number of folds, but can make all sorts of designs and shapes by combining them.- The most well known form of origami is paper crane.

おりがみ (Origami)

One of the most famous origami in Japan. This is made with a single strip of paper and takes a long time and effort to make this amazing piece of work.

雛人形 ( ひなにんぎょう – Hina Dolls)

- Hina dolls are very famous dolls which are hand made.-It is a very popular ceremony to girls in Japan because this is a day when they celebrate their happiness and prosperity. (March 3rd)

陶器 ( とき – Pottery)

-Pottery is one of the oldest art form in Japan.

- It started from the 11th century and it became popular around the world.

- Porcelain is one of the method of making ceramics by using clay in the form of kaolin (a mineral specie).

彫刻(スカルプチャ - Sculpture)

-The sculpture of Japan started from the clay figure. Later on, they started to use metal especially bronze.

- Most of the sculptures are firmly centered around Buddhism and there are many of them which represents Buddha.

- One of the most famous Buddha sculpture in Japan. It is made out of bronze which is built by skilled artists and craftsman from China.

• Scroll Painting• Woodblock Painting

かけもの (Scroll Painting)

- Scroll painting is very famous traditional art in Japan.- This is a scroll which is used mostly to decorate their houses and restaurants.- These scrolls are hung on the walls and can be different in every seasons or occasions.

浮世絵 ( うきよえ -Woodblock Painting)

-The word Ukiyo means “Picture of the floating word.”-This is also a traditional art in Japan which was produced in 17th and 19th century.
