Here are the poems again, this time, with their poets’

names.

>> 0 >> 1 >> 2 >> 3 >> 4 >>

Poem 1: The Last Flight by Mandy (Amanda) Swain

There once was a dog with a plane;

At Bishops, Snoopy was his name;

When he found out his school was to move;

He laughed, danced and started to groove;

'Cause being redundant would be such a pain.

>> 0 >> 1 >> 2 >> 3 >> 4 >>

Poem 2: A Rose by Any Other Name by Rose Clarke

There once was a girl named Rose

Who tied her hair in bows

To lead the marching band

With her flag in hand.

Her teacher back then was a nun

Who couldn't stop her from soaking up the sun

Though she lived in summer all year 'round

She fell in love and was Newfoundland bound!

>> 0 >> 1 >> 2 >> 3 >> 4 >>

Poem 2: A Rose by Any Other Name (continued)

Still

"Where the royal palms stand proudly

Underneath the summer sky

Where the tropic sun shines golden

Stands her proud Miami High..."

Poem 3: The End of an Era by Emily Lockyer

A near decade in the making...

A sea of Formica greets me.

A vista of rolling green hills, higher education and buildings that speak,

unfold before me.

In excess of 1000 minds, hearts and souls have graced my presence.

I have Educated, Entertained, Empathized, Evaluated and Evolved

Together we have experienced victories and defeat,

Moments of great joy and

Occasionally we have shared a common grief.

>> 0 >> 1 >> 2 >> 3 >> 4 >>

Poem 3: The End of an Era (continued)

And now I face the end of my era...

The LAST Class Test Book

But wait...September will return (as she always has before)

And with her she will bring a wealth of NEW Seas Vistas Minds, Hearts and Souls

(mixed with some old)

A new era will emerge

Poem 9: The Last Flight of Bishops by Tiffany McCarthy

Bishops is great and has served us well.

Although it is closing, we must not dwell.

Lots of memories have been made and work has been done.

Don’t focus on the closing as new opportunities are sure to be fun.

Remember, we are all in this together

and staying positive will make it that much better.

As we continue on our last flight,

let’s make it our best and never let those memories fade out of sight.

>> 0 >> 1 >> 2 >> 3 >> 4 >>

Poem 10: Witness by Aedon Young

Dusty old pages

bear witness

to the weight of shared experience

and the nostalgia of youth.

But change awakens the soul

to new possibilities.

Bittersweet departure

promises adventures yet to be.

Poem 11: Where will Charlie Go? by Jeff Howard

Where will Charlie go?

Bishops is closing but people are happy

Off to Waterford Valley High they go

Both students and teachers and maybe the bleachers but

where will Charlie go?

The broken chairs and desks and smart boards are staying

The mice and the rats will continue playing

The Citadel will stand but

Where will Charlie go?

>> 0 >> 1 >> 2 >> 3 >> 4 >>

Poem 11: Where will Charlie Go? (continued)

The Village is laughing the food court will prosper

Poor Vickie will have to settle for garlic fingers and chips

but

Where will Charlie go?

All aboard for the last Flight of the Red Baron

As it cruises with most souls aboard

For the land of the Warriors

With teachers and students

With books and cooks but

Where will Charlie go?

Poem 12: The Final Flight by Samantha Quirke

Away I fly on my final journey,

To blaze my trail across the twilight sky

And reminisce on bygone memories,

Leaving legacies as I pass on by.

Recalling storms that I have triumphed o’er,

And companions I’ve met along the way,

The pivotal moments that helped me soar

And live to fly for another day.

>> 0 >> 1 >> 2 >> 3 >> 4 >>

Poem 12: The Final Flight (continued)

Away, away, for elsewhere I must go!

My time amongst the clouds is nearly spent.

These aerial moments I’ll cherish so;

Dusk draws near as I make this last descent.

So now, dear friends, I bid you all adieu,

Until we reconvene on paths anew.

Poem 13: A Morning Walk by John Walsh

The Cold Wakes Me Up.

The Smell And Taste Of My Coffee Comfort Me.

The Sun Shows Me My Direction.

My Dog Leads Me Home But First Away From Home.

His Excitement Is Contagious Onto Me.

The Wondrous Mosaic Of Creatures In The Clouds

Reminds Me Each Morning Why I Take A Morning Walk.

>> 0 >> 1 >> 2 >> 3 >> 4 >>

Poem 14: Last Flight by Joanne Walsh

The halls will be quiet

The rooms will be bare

No students to worry

No teachers to care

No poems will be written

No songs will be sung

No plays will be acted

No bells will be rung

No recess time gossip

No class bathroom break

No trips to the Orange Store

To make students late

>> 0 >> 1 >> 2 >> 3 >> 4 >>

Poem 14: Last Flight (continued)

No Curie, no Dickens

No Einstein or Marx

No chamber choir singing

Like beautiful larks

No canvases painted

No projects made

No high school team banners

Being proudly displayed

There will be only memories

As we turn out the light

When the Bishops Red Baron

Takes his last flight

Poem 15: Ne Obliviscaris by Bonnie Campbell

The exile moves again.

Packing crates and chaos,

Sorting trash from treasure,

An endless dance of transience.

How is constancy a synonym of strength

When I surf volatility like an expert?

A bright whistle blows

And my thoughts scatter to the winds.

While players leave the field,

Old ghosts stand sentinel with me

Over the flotsam and jetsam of our lives.

Diaspora.
