T he measure of intel-ligence is the abilityto change." "To im-prove is to change; to

be perfect is to change often."In this ever growing worldof technologies, inventions, discoveries and a fast pacedlife, we often hear the term'intelligence'. This word hasbecome so common that ithas ended up losing its truemeaning. In all honesty, howmany of us have actuallytaken the time to ponderupon what the term re-ally means?

We often refer it asa person's intellect. ButI can assure you that

there's a lot more to the termthan just that.

Scientists that attempt-ed to define the term haveemphasised on the aspect ofadaptability. Stephen Hawk-ing once said, "Intelligenceis ability to adapt to change."

Robert Sternberg hadsimilar thoughts while defin-ing intelligence, "The abili-ty to adapt to the new envi-ronment; or modify the en-vironment or seek out and

create new environ-ment."

One saying goes,"The only thing constantin life is change."

Changes are an inte-

g r a land in-evitablepart oflife becausea life withoutchanges is alife not lived.Changes are im-portant because itprevents us from get-ting into a vicious cycleof leading a monotonouslife. An 'intelligent' individ-ual would know how best toadapt to such a change. Toadapt to change would be totake whatever situation youare in and turn it around toyour advantage.

Our ability to be able toadapt is what make us hu-mans the most intelligent. But defining intelligence ishard. Though it seems to beone single thing, it has manyaspects to it. From verbalability, pattern recognition, logic, memory to socialjudgement, intuition andmusical ability, the list isendless.

If we intend to have anumbrella that covers all ofintelligence, then it's ourability to adapt to change.Assessing the situation andmaking it favourable for usis the only way we can quan-tify 'intelligence' .

And thus," The measureof intelligence is the abilityto change."

WHAT IS A DREAM?They asked me when I waseight and naive,Being quite unperceptiveabout the worldI wondered if they werelike paper planesOr clouds that looked likecotton candyI pondered if they were likethe chirps heard in firstlight. Now that I've flourishedTo have a mind that's ablend of all the colours,I've discerned that a dreamis a painting you paintBelieving that there's

magic in reality,That it's a wish your heartmakes,And that it's a light in yourlife that's brighter thanany sunrise.So I believe,Believe in myself,And the magic of the universe,Spreading my wings I soaracross the sky.Setting out each daybelieving that I can,Knowing without a doubt,That we're all made forbewildering things.

PURE THOUGHTJumbled emotionspile up on each other,My mind starts tochange like theweatherA dark gloomy skyreflects my painAll of it imaginaryYet it hurts the sameMy eyes are wateryMy knees are bentI am hidden withinmyselfI unfold layer uponlayerUntil there is nothingbut a solitary heartI bloom in the springLaugh in the rainAnd as winter comesMy heart wilts again

I am no mortalI am no godI am just emotionFree and rawI manifest in this mor-tal planeJust to see everythingrefreshedI am the spirit of theworldAnd each day painsme a little moreMy crumbling mindand soulAre sore and weary ofexistenceWouldn't it be niceTo become a purethoughtAnd cease to be ofexistence at all.

THE MEASURE OF INTELLIGENCE

I f I could be someone else, I wouldbe Mollie, a character from the“Wishing-Chair” stories by Enid

Blyton. She and her brother Petergo on very wonderful adventures to-gether along with their cute friendChinky on the Wishing-Chair. Theywould go to Goblin-land, Pixie-land,Fairyland etc .That would really befun for me if I were in Mollie's place.I could go on adventures with Peterand Chinky. I would like to go to the“Land-of-Wishes” as I could wishanything that I would like and itwould be in front of me in a second.Chinky could help me write myhomework with the help of hismagic. This is why I really wantto become Mollie.

Iremember "Hey, it's notmay-may!" being the tuneamong teens during 2015-

16. This rise of memes inpop-culture was a result ofincreased access to the In-ternet. Then, memes werejust photos with top/bottomtext. Not anymore. Now,memes serve as a powerfuldevice of communication-to disseminate information, opinion and humour. A sin-gle meme can be the amal-gamation of as much as 10years of the Internet!

The concept of Internetmeme was introduced byMike Godwin in 1993.With the emergence ofFacebook and Twitter, memes have reachedmacro audiences.

Today, what isn't ameme? From movies, ani-mals and celebrities, tomocking the concept of own-ing airpods, anything/any-

one can be a meme. Ifyou're lucky enough, you'll become one too!

M y favourite character is Anika from the book "Secretsof Zynpagua" by Ilika Ranjan.

I would like to meet Anika becauseshe has the power to influence the

stars. She can magically travel any-where and can speak any language with

anyone — a special ability inherited fromher mother Sussaina. I always had a wish tofly and learn magic from my childhood. Ani-ka is a brave 10-year-old girl who has in-spired me to be very courageous in my life.

It would be a lot of fun to meet Anika becauseshe is of the same age as me.In the story, she faces many challenges but does-

n't give up. She even defeats Drudan to rescue hermother. After reading this book, I somehow wantto go and talk to Anika and ask her about her ad-ventures in Zynpagua. The story has inspiredme to be selfless and adopt kindness. It has taughtme to be brave even in the most difficult and try-

ing situation.
