1.1 End-to-End ManagementAbstract
According to the characteristics of the transport network, U31 R22 allows users to create, configure and manage end-to-end services in the service view. Compared with theservice configuration mode by single NE, the end-to-end mode is more effective andstraightforward.
Note:
The end-to-end management function needs the support of license.
Working Principles
When creating services with the end-to-end mode, you only need to specify the source, sink and restriction conditions, and then U31 R22 will calculate routes automatically andcreate corresponding cross connections on the NE. The end-to-end configuration mode isalso called path mode.
The procedure of creating a service with the end-to-end mode is described as follows:
1. The user selects the level, source and sink for the service to be created on the U31R22 client interface, and sets restriction conditions of the route.
2. U31 R22 automatically calculates the route of the service, and displays the calculationresult on the interface.
3. The user confirms to create the service after checking the correctness of service routeand other parameters.
4. U31 R22 calculates the corresponding cross connections based on the serviceinformation and issues them to the NE.
5. An end-to-end service and the corresponding cross connections on the NEs arecreated.

1.2 Features of End-to-End ManagementWith the end-to-end service management function, you can:l Create and configure services in end-to-end mode.l Display services in graphics, which is easier for operation and maintenance.l Filter, search, and locate services quickly, and centralize the management of a large
amount of services.l Query the detailed information of services.l Manage alarms and performances of services.l Collect service statistics and output reports.
1.3 About the Service ViewAbstract
The service view provides a platform for service browse and operation in a network-wideview. It can display the distribution of various services in the network.
Service Management View
The service management view is divided into three areas: navigation area, topology areaand table area, as described below.
l Navigation area
In this area, you can quickly locate and browse services through two navigationmodes: navigate by domain and navigate by single NE. Filter conditions can also beset in each navigation mode. You can select navigation mode of view first and thenfilter to confirm the navigation scope and locate the result.
l Topology area
After the navigation scope is determined in the navigation area, the topology areadisplays how services are distributed in graphics mode.
l Table area
It is used to display the detailed service information in table mode. When a servicebundle is selected on the topology, the table displays the connected servicescontained in the selected service bundle. When an NE is selected on the topology, the table displays the unconnected services involved with the selected node.
Service
The service bundles are responsible of transmitting the information from the source endof the path to the destination end and monitoring the integrality of the information.

Context
The end-to-end services are transmitted layer by layer in the transmission network, thatis, each network layer provides carrying service for its upper network layer, and uses thecarrying service provided by its lower network layer. If two network layers are directlyadjacent, the carrying relation is called direct carrying; if two network layers are indirectlyadjacent, the carrying relation is so called indirect carrying. The layer providing carryingservice is server layer, and that using carrying service is client layer.
Steps
1. In the service view, select a service bundle to be queried.
2. In the service list, select a server-layer service record.
3. Right-click the service record, and then choose Query > Query Client Layer ServiceCarried over Server Layer. The Query Client Layer Service Carried over ServerLayer dialog box appears.

9.3.1 Overview
Brief Introduction
For the convenience of service maintenance, the service states in U31 R22 can beclassified into service state, configuration state, and consistent state.
Service State
The service state is changed through devoting/undevoting services, including in service,in maintenance, and out of service.
Configuration State
The configuration state is changed through activating/deactivating services, andissuing/deleting service-related routing information on the NEs, including active, deactive, and partially active.
Consistent State
It refers to the displaying state when U31 R22 monitors services in real-time, includingconsistent, extended, inconsistent, and exception.
