here is my 10 font examples with discussion

TRANSCRIPT

I used Photoshop to help design these ten

examples of font for the masthead of my music

magazine. I have selected some fonts

that would suit the front cover through the

process. I also selected fonts that would not

stand out such as the first font (Arial) doesn’t have that much detail and it looks too perfect with a straight line - this would be most suitable for a newsletter. Font 2 (Broadway) looks too classic as wells as old-fashioned for a music

magazine However, as I developed the fonts, I was making progress

by adding a few adjustments by adding some effects such as

font 3. I used this unusual font called

Reprise Stamp and it really brings out the stamping effect as it

almost looks like something you see on a typical rock magazine

such as Kerrang! Font 4 (Elephant) looks too bold as I can barely make out the words.

In font 5(Copperplate Gothic Bold), I decided to use the Warp Text option

to make this example look more dynamic and not boring just leaving it

straight. Font 6 is the same font and the

reason is that I want to see what it looks like

when it’s not warped. It looks too simple but I

like the way the letters are arranged in a square

shape. Font 7(Courier New) looks like one of those words that are typed using a typing machine. I included a

black rectangular shape to make it stand out but I

feel like this is suitable for the cover lines. It

looks very bold and clear enough to read.

In the last 3 fonts, I experimented with Styles to

add more detail on it. Font 8 (Andre SF) looks so retro

looking and I like the colour theme

for this example but I think this is more appropriate

for a gaming magazine. Furthermore, font 9 looks

very organized- I spaced out the letters in order to

achieve a classy looking masthead. Font 10 (Copperplate Gothic Light)

looks very energetic- I found the one where it has lots of vibrant colours in the Styles section. In my opinion, the

font and detail combine well together. It

really gives out the party mood as well as making this examplelook more fun and exciting but I feel that you won’t be able to

read the masthead when i add in the main image.

In conclusion, I think that I should go for a font that has a simple but effective

theme for my music magazine- font 9 looks really eye catching and it defines

the plainness.
