Fans Flock to '70s Summer Funkfest

The Charles County Commissioners recently declared September 21, 2008,

“Summer Funkfest Day” in the County by presenting a proclamation of merit to the

world-famous Ohio Players (“Love Rollercoaster,” “Fire”) in celebration of their 50

years in the music industry.

Proclamations were also presented to music icons Kool & The Gang, The

SOS Band, and Harold Melvin's Blue Notes.

The Summer Funkfest, held at Regency Stadium in Waldorf, featured more

than six hours of '70s funk and soul music.
