AIM:

• To identify and strengthenthe weaknesses ofthe designand buildstagesofa building inorderto decrease the timeofthe SoftLanding process

• To investigate the potentialof usingsimulation inthe SoftLanding processwith the aim to decrease this process time

DESCRIPTION:To conduct detailed postoccupancy evaluation with a view to identifying keyweaknesses ofthe design &build stages; and the commissioning of buildingsand how they affect the energy performance.

The project objectives are:• To conduct a detailed post occupancyanalysis ofthe SIPBS building, as a

case study• Toinvestigate the applicability of building performance simulation to

validate and progress the soft landing theory.

COMMENTS:Thepost occupancy evaluation wasconducted bythe team through detailedanalysis ofdesign specifications, interviews with designers, modelling andsimulation within IBS, several sitevisitsincluding takingofthermal images,user surveys and analysis of metered and BMS data.

DELIVERABLES:

• Aunique process of soft landingshowingthe benefits of usingsimulation"Hit the Ground Running".

• Quantitative benefits ofusing simulation in post building commissioningagainst the potential energy cost
