Playing sports, raising kids, juggling work—so much of what we do in our everyday lives requires a team effort. But, when it comes to staying healthy, the feeling that we’re in this together is often left on the sidelines. The new NOVAfit! wellness program is all about changing that perception.
Last year, we made great strides in learning more about our health as a group. Slightly more than half of us (54%) participated in the personal health assessment and health screening events. The high turnout for both helped us identify our top three biggest health concerns:
• Body weight• Blood pressure• Stress
We’ve worked hard to design a wellness program that can address these issues and help you reach your health goals. All NOVAfit! programs are completely confidential—just see what we have to offer:
• Health challenges• Online health coaching• Wellness portal• Incentives• Personal health assessment• Health screening events (faculty/staff only)• Fitness classes

Tell Us How You REALLY Feel!
What’s your current exercise level? Are enough healthy food choices available on campus? Have you made positive lifestyle changes as a result of the wellness program?
Take the year-end wellness input survey to tell us how the programs we offer fit into your life—and provide suggestions for what the new NOVAfit! can do for you. Completing the brief questionnaire is as easy as 1, 2, 3:
1. Visit the wellness portal via the “Quick Links” section of the Human Resources website, and click the survey link located on the home page.
2. Answer the questions and provide your feedback on the wellness program.3. Submit your survey and see what the new NOVAfit! will have for you.
This year, the goal is to improve our wellness score and activity participation from last year. If we do, we can achieve better health, lower our healthcare costs and have fun while doing it. After all, we’re in this—together.

As we prepare to begin a new year, I encourage you to set realistic wellness goals for yourself and your family. As a University and a nation, it is critical that we work together and take action to become a healthier community in order to address the current health care crisis. The positive lifestyle changes that you begin to make today will in turn benefit both you and the University.
Awareness is the first step toward improving your overall health. I encourage you and your eligible spouse to participate in the University- sponsored personal health assessment and health screenings. As a reward for doing so, the University has developed annual premium incentives of up to $450. However, your commitment should not end there. Once you have the information regarding your individual health status, it is then just as important that you take actions to address any areas of concern.
Villanova will support you along the way with incentives, tools, resources, programs and service offerings through the NOVAfit! wellness program. NOVAfit! is designed specifically for Villanova faculty and staff and can provide the guidance and support you need to improve or maintain your overall health and wellness.
We all have at least one thing we can do to improve our health. Making lifestyle changes aren’t always easy. An expert health coach with theLifestyle Management Coaching program can motivate and encourage you along the way. Coaches can help you manage stress, eat healthier, quit tobacco, increase your physical activity or manage your weight.
Whatever healthy lifestyle changes you’re planning in 2013, remember that the NOVAfit! wellness program can help support your goals and celebrate your successes.
To learn more about all that the NOVAfit! wellness program has to offer, review this brochure and log on to the wellness portal from Villanova’s Human Resources main page under the “Quick Links” section. The NOVAfit! wellness program is a helpful resource that I encourage you to take advantage of—just like I do—to support your health and wellness goals!
