2014-2015 ANNUAL REPORT
Dear Friends,
Your support in 2014-2015 made it possible for Proyecto Pastoral to grow
and thrive while pursuing our mission to empower the Boyle Heights
community through grassroots projects in education, leadership and
service. In December 2014, Proyecto opened a Women’s Shelter for
senior-aged homeless women, creating a one-of-a kind resource for the most
vulnerable segment of our community. This new shelter supplements our
ongoing program for homeless men located at Dolores Mission. Our Promesa
Boyle Heights Collaborative expanded implementation of the strategies for
supporting our youth from cradle to college and career. These efforts are
already demonstrating remarkable results. Proyecto has continued our work
to develop community leaders, as well as offer highest quality early childhood
education and safe and enriching after-school and summer programs to our
youth.
Our thanks goes out to the Proyecto community including residents, staff,
board, volunteers and the many partners who make this work possible. We
thank you for your commitment, and encourage you to spread the word so our
community may continue to build upon these amazing results.
Yours,
Cynthia SanchezCEO

“I’ve been in and out of foster care since middle school and have been to at least ten schools. It’s hard to keep up in school when you’re worried about moving around. I want to be a child therapist or a social worker. Or maybe, I’ll be a movie director so that people know they are not alone in their stories. Today, I’m in Sacramento to make sure our community can have more supports, more jobs, more opportunities for students like me.” - Daisy, standing with the Alliance of Boys and Men of Color (Image Left)
