DCA Annual DinnerCelebrate Downtown!

Perception SurveyA perception study sent outby the PA DowntownCenter to the region togain insights on downtownperceptions.  Perceptionssurvey can be downloadedhere.

Another survey was doneby Dickinson students.Ashley Perzyna fromDickinson stated therewere over 400 responsesand the results are beingcompiled.

We would like to thank all of our board members for theirwillingness to serve with us.   Please remember, the National MainStreet program along with Pennsylvania's Main Street programisa community driven program and we need help from EVERYONEto make downtown a success.  We also have a wonderful list ofliaisons who attend board meetings, and additional volunteerswho attend committee meetings, and additional people whovolunteer.  If you have a downtown business and you are notinvolved, there are many others who are striving to makedowntown Carlisle great, we need everyone involved in somemanner!  If you have any questions please feel free to call us!!

Spotlight ­ Becky Richeson­CALC

Carlisle Arts Learning Center UpdateBecky Richeson, director of CALC, gave the DCA an updateabout how the planning of the 2016 Summer Camps, "Works inthe Windows", is commencing.  CALC collaborated with theCarlisle Elm Street Project on the "Home Tweet Home" program,where over 100 birdhouses were painted and displayedthroughout the town. Also, the new Bosler "library boxes" will beinstalled by April 9th.  Becky thanked the DCA for their service andstated that we can all be proud of downtown Carlisle.

New DCA ProgramCoordinatorMary Beth Brath is the newProgram Coordinator and hastaken the place of SusanLehman. Mary Beth was thepromotions chair for theDowntown MechanicsburgPartnership and downtownMechanicsburg Art Galleryowner.  We are excited to have her on board and we are alreadydrawing from her experience.  You may contact Mary Beth atmarybeth@lovecarlisle.com, she will also be contacting you for ourvarious events and programs. 

First Night Sell Out Success!Crystal Kerns of the Carlisle Theater reports that First Night wasa huge success!  22 venues with a total of 30 acts participated. 2500 buttons sold, ad movie tickets were sold out.  

 

Carlisle Theater Amateur Film FestivalThe next big event for the Carlisle Theater is the 2nd AnnualAmateur Film Festival.  

Chris attended a MyBrother's KeeperConference in Philadelphiawhere additional training andprogramming was revealedin the continuing program.

DickinsonTown will be busy on May 21& 22 due to DickinsonGraduation. Additional datesof 2016 ­ 2017 academicyear can be downloadedhere.

Additional ways will bediscussed on how to betterintegrate new students intodowntown.when they firstcome.

Discussion has beenhappening for years onstudent's ability to use theirmeal cards in downtownrestaurants. Opinion revolvedaround cost of the equipmentand higher rates used byprovider for transactions. She will look into it.  

Downtown Clean­upEarth Day is April 22nd.Tuesday "Downtown Clean­ups" will start on TuesdayApril 19th at 10am.  JudithMohr and Pat Craig will chairthe project. Glenn will sendthem an agenda outliningwhat needs to be done.

 Future DevelopmentIdeasIdea ­ Find qualifiedpeople/secret shoppers fromoutside of our town to comeand give critiques tomerchants about how tobetter their offerings incomparison to regionalcompetition.  Give freshideas. It could be anexchange and we could sendsomeone to their town. Idea ­ online site formerchants to share photosand ideas of signage, design,merchandising, windowdesigns, etc.  DiscussedPinterest and Instagram aspossible platforms. Leaningtowards Pinterest.

Santa Comes to TownRe­CapApproximately 160 familiesattended tree lighting.  204families had their picturetaken with Santa and theDCA sent free photo printsin commemorative downtownCarlisle cards to each familyfor free.  Over 100 families

Dining DecksThe Borough is still workingwith PennDOT on developingways to allow dining decks onstate roads (Hanover &High).
