The pattern is easy circular knitting with a ribbing at the start.
Skill Level: Intermediate
Size: Child Large or Adult Small
Finished Diameter: 10”
Materials:
1 skein Cascade 220 Superwash® (100% Superwash Wool 100g.
220 yards), Red
One 16” size US #5 circular needle or one set of US #5 dbl points
Two 16 “ size US #7 circular needles or one set of US# 7 dbl points
Blunt sewing needle
6 stitch markers
Gauge: 5 sts and 7 rnds = 1" in stocking stitch
Brim
With the smaller needle(s), cast on 80 sts with German Long Tail Cast on, or other stretchy cast on. Join in a
circle taking care not to twist sts.
Rnds 1-5: *K1, P1, repeat *to the end of the rnd
Switch to larger needle(s) for the next (increase) rnd:
Rnd 6: M1,*K2, M1*, repeat * to the end of the rnd, 120 sts
Work even for 3” (20 rounds). On the last round, set up for the decrease rnds: *Knit 20, place a marker, repeat
* to end, 6 sections total
Rnd 1: *Work until 2 sts before marker, K2tog, sl m, repeat * to end (114 sts rem)
Rnd 2: Work even
Repeat rnds 1 and 2 until 6 sts rem, (Add a second circ ndl when needed)
End with an even rnd.
Cut yarn at 6” and with a blunt sewing needle, thread the yarn through the loops and cinch.
Weave the yarn ends to the inside. Block with a dinner plate or insert a circle of firm plastic.
