Introduction to Jaypee group

The founder of Jaypee Group is Jaiprakash Gaur, who started as a civil contractor in 1958. In 1979, Jaiprakash Associates Private Ltd (JAPL) was formed. In 1980, Jaypee Group entered into Hospitality sector and set up Hotels Siddhartha and Vansant Continental. In 1983, Jaypee Rewa Cement Plant (JRCL) was established with an initial capacity of 1 million tones.

It deals with various constructions-1)Yamuna express way-2)Power3)Cement4)Hospitality5)Real estate.

To have a clear understanding of the Industry and position.

To know the Human Resource functions in JAYPEE group.

To have an understanding of the employees working in HR department.

To know the working of R-R process.To know the practical experience with the

help of on the job summer training.

Performance Appraisal at JAYPEE GRUOP

There are various types of performance appraisal system.

But in an organization there is another way of performance appraisal i.e.-

Grading system Rating systemAs per the company rules and regulations grades are

there for the different designations i.e.- N-01A to N-14

Recruitment and selection

Recruitment-Inviting of applicants to the job. Recruitment treats applicants as a precious

resources. In an organization recruitment is done on the basis of

requirement of job. Human resource department decides that which

application is to be taken.

Selection

It means a process by which qualified personnel may be chosen from the applicants offering there services to the organization for employment.

Factors effecting selections decisions are-1) Profile matching,2) Organizational and social environment.

Findings-

Among all employees 35.29% employees are from personnel department, 17.65% employees are from finance department, 11.76% employees are from administration department, 35.29% are from other departments.

Among all employee 73.53% think that organization have structured performance appraisal system in place and 26.47% employee thinks that the organization does not have structured performance appraisal system in place.

Recommendations

On the basis of the study of my key points at Jaypee Group. I would like to give following recommendations:-

HR department should be detaching from the personnel department.

Organization should be adopting modern methods of performance appraisal such as MBO, 360 degree, behaviorally anchored rating scale etc.

The appropriate time for appraisal should be six months. All the employees who are new entrants or working as

management trainee the organization should provide more benefits to them..

Limitations

Some employees of HR department was not encouraging me for clearing my doubts.

Reliability- The reliability of the data cannot be checked upon.

Geographical Limitations - The study was conducted at various departments in the Jaypee Group, Noida. Hence, the result may not be very accurate as per the national industry standards.

Conclusions

“Well beginning is half done” I am able to meet out my set objective laid down prior

to the study that is conducted at organization. In a first phase I had studied their prevailing system.

In order to assess its effectiveness I had gone through various pros & cons of R-R at Jaypee Group.

My study on performance appraisal process is quite efficient on various dimensions e.g. quality of existing system, organizational commitment.
