Work and Personal Responsibility

Our Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ have shown us by Their examples and teachings that Work Is an Eternal Principle.

11 And that ye study to be quiet, and to do your own business, and to Work with your own hands, as We Commanded You;12 That ye may walk honestlytoward them that are without, and that ye may have lack of nothing. (1 Thess 4:11–12)

We Are Commanded to Work

Work has been the way of life on earth since

Adam and Eve left the Garden of Eden

“Work is to be reenthronedas the ruling principle of the lives of our Church

membership” Pres. Heber J. Grant

Parents work together to provide for the physical, spiritual, and emotional well-being of their family.

Couples should seek inspiration from the Lord and follow the counsel of the prophets when establishing individual responsibilities.

Children should do their part in the work of the family.

The most important work you will do within the

Church will be within the walls of your own home.

We Can

Enjoy

Our Work

We can enjoy life’s fullest benefits

through Work that is exciting.

“When ye are in the service of your fellow beings ye are only in the service of your God”

(Mosiah 2:17).

“Work, work, work is the best antidote for loneliness, for incapacity, for any other

thing that happens to impede your progress. I’ve had a

challenge all of these years, and that keeps me going. I’m

so grateful to have something to do every

morning when I wake up.”Pres. Gordon B. Hinckley

God Condemns Idleness

“Doing nothing is the hardest work of all, because one can

never stop to rest.” Without WORK, Rest and

Relaxation have no meaning.

Work, Recreation, and Rest

Blessings Come from Honest Work

There is no real division between spiritual, mental, and physical work.

“Let us realize that the

privilege to work is a gift,

that the power to work is a

blessing, that the love of work

is success.” Pres. David O. McKay

“When you learn to work while you’re young, the habit stays with you.”

Pres. Thomas S. Monson

As we become like Him, our

work will become like His work. His work is “to bring

to pass the immortality and

eternal life of man.”

(Moses 1:39).
