Dear Fellow Chamber Members,Here we are….September! Kids are back to school, traffic is ramping back up, and weekends are soon to be consumed with high school, college, and professional football (though we will still closely watch the Astros!) August was a very busy month as we wrapped up the “Boots on the Ground” Membership Campaign. In total, we had 76 new members and 16 renewals, and 8 upgraded Distinguished Investors. I want to welcome all our new members and thank all those that worked so hard for this year’s Membership Campaign.In August we hosted the area’s largest luncheon at South Shore Harbour Resort as we welcomed over 350 new teachers to CCISD. I’d like to thank all the sponsors, CCISD faculty and staff, and the New Teacher’s Luncheon Committee for all their hard work for another great event!As we look toward September and my last month as Chairman I want to thank all those that have made this past year a great one. The staff, board members, and the various committees have all contributed to getting us through a very different year. It’s been one of several challenges with Hurricane Harvey and Chamber personnel transition but I think through it all, we’ll come through stronger, more efficient, and more energized for the future. Next year’s Chairman, Brian Freedman, is an outstanding leader and will

continue the momentum at the end of this year. He is energetic, enthusiastic, very innovative, and has assembled an Executive Officer team that I believe will take the Chamber to the next level. I hope all of you will attend the Chairman’s Ball on the 5th of October at the Lone Star Flight Museum. If you’ve never been, this is a great opportunity to come and view the aircraft on display and the uncommon learning center that is the Museum. If you have been, you’ll see the hangar transformed into a unique ballroom that you won’t soon forget!As always, I hope everyone makes use of the member directory on the Chamber’s website, www.clearlakearea.com when looking for a vendor, supplier, or something fun to do to help grow our local economy (#buyintobayarea).
