MAN VS. MAN

A conflict between two characters

MAN VS. SOCIETY

a conflict between a character and some element of society (law, school, etc.)

MAN VS. SELF

A conflict between a character and a decision or feeling within his/herself

MAN VS. NATURE

A conflict between a character & some element of nature (weather, animals, etc.)

MAN VS. Man vs. Supernatural

A character experiences a problem with characters or events that defy rational expectations. (science fiction, fantasy)

Internal or External Conflict

Internal conflict will always be man vs self

What type of conflict?1. Tom and Bob disagreed about where they should take the cat that they found.

2. Christine struggled to walk through the hot, grainy sand burning her feet and blowing in her face.

3. Serena couldn’t decide what to do that night. Should she do her homework, or should she go to the movies with her friends?

4. In the high winds, the crew was barely able to keep the ship from turning over into the troublesome waters.

5. Rick though, “Why did I ever agree to be in chorus? I’ll never have the nerve to sing on stage in front of an audience!”

What happens after you pin the hem in place?

First, turn up the hem and press it into place. Then turn under a small edge on the inside of the hem. Press that, too. Next, pin the hem in place. Then thread a needle. Sew the hem in place. Use longer stitches on the inside and smaller stitches on the outside. That way, the stitches will barely show
