� The purpose of the College Readiness Now program is to help 11th and 12th grade students achieve college and career readiness skills.
Purpose
� � Students in the program participate in an on-site
literacy development bridge course at their high school;
� The on-site course is offered as an after-school course or as a 10 week semester-based model that is incorporated into the students’ high school day;
� Students get access to Pearson’s MyFoundationsLab (AccuMFL) for 10 weeks to help improve their Reading, Writing, and Math proficiencies;
� On-site program allows students to participate in self-paced learning activities and provide them face-to-face classroom instruction.
Program Description
� � Each bridge course has an Academic Coach who
monitors students progress, offer support, and assistance whenever needed.
� Prior to the on-site transition program, a three day Professional Development (PD) workshop is held with the Academic Coaches, who are teachers in the high school.

� � The PD sessions are two hours long and the work in the
PD sessions is used to guide instruction and student advisement during the on-site Fall/Spring Transition course.
� PD workshops are conducted by the Executive Director of Academic Success and focus on literacy development strategies; incorporating Critical Thinking concepts and tools into the delivery of the 10 week transition course, and how to use Accuplacer scores, Accuplacer diagnostic scores and the SuccessNavigator as tools in developing student competencies in English and Mathematics.
PD for Academic Coaches
� � Participates in the program take the Accuplacer, and diagnostic
assessment(s) associated with Pearson’s MyFoundationsLab (MFL) to create a personalized learning path.
� The first administration of the Accuplacer allows OCC to get a
base line placement score in English and Math.
� After the first administration of the Accuplacer, two sets of scores are printed. One for student and one for High Administration
� Scores are reviewed with students immediately following the completion of their Accuplacer Test

� � After the first Accuplacer test is completed and reviewed, students take the
Accuplacer Diagnostic Assessment associated with Pearson’s MyFoundationsLab (MFL) to create a personalized learning path.
� The multimodal program allows students to participate in self-paced learning
activities that scaffold items and provide them with instant feedback in addition to their face-to-face classroom instruction.
� Upon completion of the diagnostic, students are registered and have 10 weeks access
to Pearson’s MyFoundationsLab (MFL) � After 10 weeks a second Accuplacer test date is set-up with the high school. This
allows us to get a final placement score in English and Math. � Accuplacer scores only count if students receive a placement score in English and
Math. If student does not achieve a placement test score that places them into College Level English or Math; students can take all or part of either placement test at the normal college cost of $5 per section.

What are the Diagnostics and how are they different?
� � Below outlines the Accuplacer scores needed for placement into
college Level English and Math and the scores needed to meet NJ HS grad requirements.
HS grad requirement
� HS Graduation Requirement English Score required = 8, 7, or 6 � HS Graduation Requirement Math Score required = 76 or better
OCC Placement results
� OCC English Placement Score required = 8, 7, or 6 with a combined Reading Comprehension + Sentence Skills score of 200
� OCC Math Placement Score required = 76 or better

� The College Readiness Now Program has tested close to 600 students from 11 Ocean County High Schools during 2015-2016 academic year. College Readiness Program at OCC
� � The 2015-2016 CRN II cohort was made up of 557 11th and
12th graders from 11 different HS. � Out of the 557, 220 have applied to OCC and 105 have
enrolled as of August 3, 2016.
