DESCRIPTION

Sand filter systems are a type of equipment used in the treatment of wastewater. They are considered to be secondary treatment systems since they usually require the primary treatment of sewage by a septic tank. Since sand is a natural absorbent, it works quite effectively in treating sewage to a higher quality. When the treated sewage is of a good quality, it passes through a land application system and is used for irrigation. A Look At Intermittent and Construction Sand Filter Systems

Sand filter system is a type of equipment used in the treatment of wastewater.

They are considered to be secondary treatment systems since they usually require the primary treatment of sewage by a septic tank.

Intermittent Sand FiltersThe sewage is placed onto the filter beds of wastewater sand filters at regular intervals. In this process, the sewage has already undergone preliminary treatment.

Construction Sand FiltersThe treatment process of a construction sand filter system is a little longer than the aforementioned one, so here’s a step-by-step process for a better understanding:

Step 1: The sewage is applied through a dosing tank and siphon, which flows into troughs laid on the filter bed.Step 2: These troughs have side openings, which allows the sewage to flow on the sand. To prevent any displacement of sand, blocks may also be used underneath the sewage streams.Step 3: After 24 hours, the sewage is now applied over a second bed while the first bed rests. Usually, three to four beds may then be working in rotation.
