Network sharing to promote Broadband deployment
• Several factors contribute to the deployment of Broadband Networks.

PENETRATION
• In several cases the major drawback is the lack of economic resources.
A network sharing scheme could be used to reduce the network roll-out costs. This presentation shows the cost implications of a network sharing scheme for the passive
infrastructure of fixed broadband access networks. The following Fiber To The Home (FTTH) networks are described: GPON, XG-PON and TWDM-PON.

It is assumed that operators share the passive infrastructure voluntarily. Each operators is in charge of its own active network elements. A multifiber scheme is employed to share the passive infrastructure.

It is assumed that operators share the passive infrastructure voluntarily. Each operators is in charge of its own active network elements. A single fiber is shared by different network operators. Each operator will work with its own wavelengths.

Cost Reductions achieved when using network sharing
• 50% market share overall
• Urban area in Europe
For the scenarios with 2 and 3 operators the cost reduction achieved on average is 44% and 60%, respectively.
The cost reductions achieved with a network sharing scheme could motivate operators to invest in broadband infrastructure.
