Kantarawichi District is about 14 kilometers from Maha

Sarakham on the way to Kalasin. You can go there by

motorcycle, car, van or bus. It is an ancient town.

There are famous standing Buddha Images in Kantharawichai

District, Maha Sarakham Province. Mongkon Budda Image,

a standing Buddha image is in Wat Buddha Mongkon or Wat Ban

Sa on the left and Mingmuang

Buddha Image is in Wat Suwannawat.

Pra Mingmuang Buddha or Suwanmalee Buddha Image,

is one of standing Buddha images in Wat Suwannawart. It is a

Dvaravati style Buddha image, and it was built about 2,000

years ago. It is in Moo 1, Khok Pra Sub District, Kantarawichai

District, Mahasarakham Province.

These are the famous Buddha images of Wat Suwanawart,

Kantarawichai District.

Pra Mongkon Buddha Image,

a standing Buddha image is in Wat

Buddha onkon or Wat Ban Sa.

It was built from red sand stone.

It looks like a Mingmuang Buddha

Image. It was built by women in

the same period.

The script on this Sema or sandstone block tells the story of the

ancient town of “Kan Tang or Khantatirat.

Ban Khan Ta Fresh Water Lake and Chaleom Prakiat Park

are in Kantharawichai District. The people use this place for

relaxing, getting exercise and firework shows when they have

special events.

Every three years, people in Kantarawichai Districts hold a rocket

festival in June. They used rockets to ask for rain from Praya Taen,

god of rain.

The villagers decorate their rockets with flowers, beads

and national flags. There are many colorful parades with

dancers, musicians, and drum players.

work, the rocket makers

will be punished by being

thrown into muddy clay.

Benjarong, a porcelain product with five colors, is

the famous OTOP product of Kantarawichai.

How to make Benjarong Porcelain

Molding

There are four methods for molding; injection molding,

casting, plastic pressing, and extrusion.

These are molds. Most porcelain industries use the injection

molding technique.

After molding, they clean and cut off the angles.

These are porcelain dish after sintering.

They are painting their porcelain with the main colors for

Benjarong potteries. The painting is difficult to do. It is the

final step in making Benjarong pottery.
