Bharati Vidyapeeth university homoeopathic medical college is renowned

RECOGNITION - Our courses are recognized by –
Homoeopathic Central Council Act. 1973 (57) (as Amended upto 2002) passed
by parliament as under –
1) Homoeopathy, (Minimum standard of education) Regulation 1983 (as
Amended upto 2002) requirement of courses.
2) Homoeopathy Degree Course Regulation 1983 (as Amended upto
2003) syllabus of course.
3) Post Graduate Degree Course Regulation 1993, 1998, 2001 requirement
& syllabus of course.

Degree To Be Awarded After Successful Completion Of Course :
"Bachelor of Homoeopathic Medicine and Surgery (B.H.M.S.)" by Bharati
Vidyapeeth University.

Eligibility For Admission:
B.H.M.S.
A candidate passing H.S.C science (10+2) or its equivalent examinations
from recognized board and has secured at least 50% marks in physics , chemistry,
biology(botany & zoology) together .and should have passed in the subject
English in the said examination .Blind (including colour blind),deaf &or dumb
candidate shall not be allowed for admission in the course.
However if any seats remain vacant in BHMS course the minimum
qualification for admission as prescribed by CCH is “That the candidate seeking
admission should have passed 12th std. (HSC or equivalent examination) with
Physics, Chemistry, and Biology as his subjects”.
Minimum Age For Admission :
17 yrs as on 31dec in the year of admission of BHMS course
Course Of Study:
I. The degree courses of B.H.M.S. (Degree) shall comprise a course of study
consisting of curriculum and syllabus. Provided in these regulations,
spread over a period of 5 /2 years including compulsory internship of 1
year duration after passing the final degree examination.
II. The internship should be undertaken at the hospital attached to the college
and in cases where such hospital cannot accommodate all of its students for
internship such students may undertake their internship in a hospital a
dispensary run by the Central Govt. and State Govt. or Local bodies.
III. At the completions of internship of the specified period and on the
recommendation of the head of the institution where internship was
undertaken the Bharati Vidyapeeth University shall issue the degree to the
successful candidates.

Scheme Of Examination :
The examination for each subject shall ordinarily be held twice in a year in
the month of November and April.
The examination shall be conducted by means of written papers, oral and
practical/ clinical examination in each subject.

Pass Marks :
Pass marks in all subjects both homoeopathic and allied Medical subjects
shall be 50% in each part (written, oral and practical).
Rules Of Examination :
The examination will be conducted as per prescribed norms and
regulations of Central Council of Homoeopathy, New Delhi and Bharati
Vidyapeeth University.
A) FOR FIRST YEAR B.H.M.S.
i) Any undergraduate may be admitted to the First B.H.M.S.
examination provided that he has regularly attended the following
courses of instruction in the subjects of examination theoretical and
practical for not less than one and a half years at a Homoeopathic
Medical College to the satisfaction of head of College.
ii) The First B.H.M.S. examinations shall be held at the end of 18
months of First B.H.M.S. Course.
iii) The minimum number of hours for lecture, Demonstration Practical
and Seminar classes in the subjects shall be as under :

iv) The examination shall be written, oral and practical.
v) The examination in Homoeopathic Pharmacy shall consist of one
theoretical paper, one practical examination and one oral
examination.
vi) The examination in Anatomy including histology and embryology
shall consist of two theoretical papers, one practical examination and
one oral examination.
vii) The examination in Physiology including Biochemistry shall consist
of two theoretical papers, one practical examination and one oral
examination.
viii) The examination in Homoeopathic Materia Medica shall consist of
one theoretical paper and one oral examination.
ix) The examination in Organon of Medicine, Principles of
Homoeopathy Philosophy and Psychology shall consist of one
theoretical paper and one oral examination.
x) Three hrs. shall allowed for each theoretical paper in each subject.
xi) A candidate securing 75% or above marks in any of the subject shall
be declared to achieve honours in the subject provided that he has
passed the examination in first attempt.
xii) In order to pass the First B.H.M.S. examination a candidate must
pass in all subject of the examination.
B) For Second Year B.H.M.S.
i) The Second B.H.M.S. examination shall be held at the end of 30
months of admissions to the First B.H.M.S.
ii) The examination of Second B.H.M.S. shall be held after student has
regularly attended course of instructions in the subject concern
for theoretical, practical/ clinical for not less than one year to the
satisfaction of head of the College.
iii) Examination in Pathology and Microbiology shall consist of one
theory paper and one practical including oral identification of
microscopic slides and specimens shall be a part of practical
examination.
iv) Examination in Forensic medicine and Toxicology shall consist of
one theory paper and one oral examinations including identification
and spotting of specimens.
v) Examination in Organon of Medicine, principles of Homoeopathic,
Philosophy and Psychology shall consist of one theory paper and
oral examination.
vi) Examination in Materia Medica shall consist of one theory paper
and one ; practical including oral examination.
vii) The minimum number of hours for lecture, demonstration practical
and seminar classes in the subjects shall be under :

viii) In order to pass the Second B.H.M.S. examination a candidate has to
pass all the subjects of examination.
ix) A candidate securing 75% or above marks in any of the subjects
shall be declared to receive honours in that subject provided he has
passed the examination in the first attempt.
C) For Third Year B.H.M.S.
i) No candidate shall be admitted to the Third B.H.M.S. examination
unless
a) He has passed the Second B.H.M.S. examination atleast one year
previously ; and
b) Has regularly attended the following courses of instructions
theoretical and practical, in the subjects of examination over a
period of atleast two years in a recognised Homoeopathic
College subsequent to his passing the First B.H.M.S.
examination to the satisfaction of Head of the College.
ii) The Third B.H.M.S. examination shall be held at the end of 42nd
month of admission to the First B.H.M.S.
iii) The minimum number of hours for lecture, demonstration/ practical,
clinical and seminar classes in the subject shall be as under :

iv) The examination in surgery shall consist of three theory papers and
one practical examination. One theory paper shall exclusively on
homoeopathic therapeutics; practical examination shall be consist of
clinical examination and orals. In the clinical examination the
student shall be examined on his skill on the surgical instruments,
bandages and general measures related to surgery, scope of
homoeopathic therapeutics and examination and diagnosis of
surgical disease through clinical examination, x-ray and other
common diagnostic techniques. The case study reports of the
students carried out during the course shall also be considered at the
oral examination.
v) Examination in obstetrics and Gynecology including Infant Care
shall consist of three theory papers & one practical examination.
One theory paper shall be exclusively on Homoeopathic
therapeutics. Practical examinations shall consist of clinical
examination and oral. In the clinical examination the student shall be
examined on his skill on the specimens, models, instruments and
general appliances related to obstetrics, scope of Homoeopathic
therapeutics and examination and diagnosis of Gynecological
disease through clinical examinations, X-Ray and other common
diagnostic techniques. The case study reports of the students carried
out during the course shall also be considered at the oral
examination.
vi) Examination in Homoeopathic Materia Medical shall consist of one
theory paper and one bedside practical examination, which shall be
on two acute cases with special reference to their nosological
diagnosis and therapeutic diagnosis from Homoeopathic point of
view.
vii) Examination in Organon of Medicine shall consist of one theory
paper and one oral examination and one bedside practical
examination of one long case in the application of the tenets of
Organon in case taking, evaluation of symptoms and guidelines of
treatment.
viii) In order to pass the Third B.H.M.S. examination candidate have to
pass in all the subjects of the examination.
ix) A candidate securing 75% or above marks in any of the subjects
shall be declared to receive honors in that subject provided he has
passed the examination in first attempt.
D) FOR FOURTH YEAR B.H.M.S.
i) No candidate shall be admitted to Fourth B.H.M.S. examination
unless
a) he has passed the Third B.H.M.S. examination atleast one
year previously.
b) has regularly attended the following courses of instructions
theoretical and practical, in the subjects of examination over a
period of atleast 3 years in a recognised Homoeopathic
College subsequent to his passing the First B.H.M.S.
examination to the satisfaction of the Head of the College.
ii) The Fourth B.H.M.S. examination shall be held at the end of 54th
month of admission to First B.H.M.S.
iii) The minimum number of hrs. for lecture, demonstration/ practical,
seminar and clinical classes in the subjects shall be as under.

iv) Examination in practice of Medicine Including Pediatrics Psychiatry
and Dermatology shall consist of 3-thcory papers one bedside
practical examination. One theory paper shall be exclusively on
Homoeopathic Therapeutics. The practical examination shall consist
of clinical examination and oral. In the clinical examination the
students shall be examined on his skill on Nosological and
therapeutics diagnosis, through clinical examinations, X-Ray and
other common diagnostic techniques and detailed case taking on
long and short cases. The case reports of the students earned out
during the course shall also be considered for oral examinations.
v) Examination in case taking and repertory shall consist of one theory
paper and one practical examination. The practical examination shall
consist of the Homoeopathic principles on case taking of one long
case and-one short case and the methods of arriving the reportorial
totality through case analysis and actual repertorisation. The skill of
finding rubrics from Kent and Bocnninghousen Repertory the case
reports of the students carried out during the course shall be
considered for the oral examination.
vi) Examination in -Homoeopathic Materia Medica shall consist of two
theory papers and one bedside practical examination. The bedside
examination shall be one long case and one short case with special
references to their nosological diagnosis and therapeutic diagnosis
from Homoeopathic point of view. The case reports of the students
carried out during the course shall be considered for the oral
examinations.
vii) Examination in Organon of Medicine and principles of
Homoeopathic Philosophy shall consist of two theory papers and
one practical examination. The practical examination shall be on the
Homoeopathic orientation of cases in relation to miasmatic
diagnosis, general management, posology , second prescription, etc.
viii) The examination in Community Medicine including Health
Education and Family Welfare shall consist of one theory paper and
one oral examination. The oral examination shall be on spotting and
identification of specimens and matters related to the community-
oriented problems.
ix) In order to pass the fourth B.H.M.S. examination candidates have to
pass in all the subjects of the examination.
x) A candidate securing 75% or above marks in any of the subjects
shall be declared to receive honour in that subject provided he has
passed the examination in first attempt.
RESULTS AND RE-ADMISSION TO EXAMINATION:
i) Every candidate for admission to an examination shall 21 days
before the date fixed for the commencement of the examination send
to the authority his application in the prescribed form along
with the examination fee.
ii) Candidate who have passed in one or more subjects need not appear
in that subject or those subjects again in the subsequent
examinations if the candidate passes the whole examination within 4
chances including the original examination,
iii) As soon as possible after the examination the examining body shall
publish a list of successful candidates,
iv) Every candidate as passing shall receive a certificate in the
form prescribed by the Bharati Vidyapeeth University,
v) Facility to keep term : not with standing the foregoing regulations
the students shall be allowed the facilities to keep term on the
following conditions:
a. The candidate must pass the Second B.H.M.S. examination at
least 1 term (6 months) before he is allowed to appear in the
Third B.H.M.S. examination.
b. The candidate must pass the Third B.H.M.S. examination at
least 1 term (6 months) before he is allowed to appear in the
Fourth B.H.M.S. examination
c. No candidate shall be given more than 4 chances to appear in
First B.H.M.S. examination in the same subject.
d. If a candidate fails to pass in a subject/ subjects in first year
examination he/she will have to appear for respective subject/
subjects examination which will be held after six (6) months.
vi) A candidate who appears at Second/ Third B.H.M.S. examination
but fails to pass in the subject/ subjects he may be admitted to the
next examination in the subject/ subjects. However, candidate shall
be allowed to keep term as provided in point above.
vii) Special classes, seminars, demonstrations, practical, tutorials, etc.
shall be arranged for the repeaters in the subject in which they have
failed before they are allowed to appear at the next examination, in
which attendance shall be compulsory.
viii) If a candidate fails to pass in all the subjects within the prescribed
chances he shall be required to prosecute a further course of study in
all the subject and in all parts for 1 year to the satisfaction of the
head of college and appearing for examinations in all the subjects.
ix) If a student appearing for Fourth B.H.M.S. examination has only one
subject to pass at the end of prescribed chances, he shall be allowed
to appear at the next examination in that particular subject and shall
complete examination with this special chances.
x) All examinations shall ordinarily be held on such dates, time &
places as the examining body may determine.
xi) The examining body may under exceptional circumstances,
partially/ wholly cancel any examinations conducted by it under
intimates the Central Council of Homoeopathy and arrange for
conducting re-examination in these subjects within a period of 30
days form the dale of such cancellation.
xii) Grace marks may be awarded to the students at the discretion of the
University/ examining body on exceptional circumstances.
Internship Training :
1) II) Each candidate shall be required to undergo compulsory
rotating Internship of one year, after passing the Final
B.H.M.S. examinations, to the satisfaction of the Principal of
the Homoeopathic College. Thereafter only, the candidate
shall be eligible for the award of Degree of bachelor of
Homoeopathic Medicine and Surgery (B.H.M.S.) by the
University
i) All parts of the internship training shall be undertake at the
hospital attached to the College, and in cases where such
hospital cannot accommodate all of its students for internship
then such candidates/ students shall be informed in writing by
the college and it shall be the responsibility of the College to
ensure that each of such students is put on internship training
in a Homoeopathic Hospital or dispensary run by Government
or local bodies.
ii) To enable the State Board/ Council of Homoeopathy to grant
provisional registration of minimum of one year to each
candidate to undertake the internship, the University
concerned shall issue a provisional passed certificate on
passing the Final B.H.M.S. examination to each successful
candidate. Provide that in the event of shortage or
unsatisfactory work, the period of compulsory internship and
the provisional registration shall be accordingly extended by
the State Board/ Council.
iii) Full registration shall only be given by the State Board if the
B.H.M.S. degree awarded by the University concerned is a
recognized medical qualification as per Section 13(1) of the
Act, and Board shall award registration to such candidates
who produce certificate to completion or compulsory rotating
internship of not less than one year duration from the
Principal of College where one has been a bonafide student
which shall also declare that the candidate is eligible for it.
iv) The internee students shall not prescribe the treatment
including medicines and each of them shall work under the
direct supervision of Head of Department concerned and/ or a
Resident Medical Officer. Xo intern student shall issue any
medico logical document under his/ her signatures.
Each candidate shall complete the internship training at the
maximum within a period of 24 months after passing the final
year examination.
2) The internship training shall be regulated by the Principal in
consultation with concerned Heads of Departments and R.M.O. as
under :
i) Each internee student shall be asked to maintain a record of
work, which is to be constantly monitored by the Head of
concerned Department and / or Resident Medical Officer
under whom the internee is posted. The scrutiny of record
shall be done in an objective way to update the knowledge,
skill and aptitude of internee.
ii) The stress during the internship training shall be on case
taking, evaluation of symptoms, nosological and miasmatic
diagnostic analysis, repatriation and management of sick
people based on principles of Homoeopathy. Weekly seminars
shall be conducted wherein interns in rotation be given a
chance to present their cases for discussion, and. concerned
teachers/ R.M.O. shall assess performance of each of interns.
iii) Rotation of intern students shall be as under :
a. Practice of Medicine - 8 Months wherein internee will be
rotated in each Psychology. Respiratory, Gastro intestinal
Endocrinology. Skin and Y.D., Locomotor Cardiology,
Paediatrics sections.
b. Surgery - 1 Month.
c. Obstetrics and Gynecology - 2 months [1 month each
(including Reproductive and child health care)].
d. Community medicine (including PHC/ CHC) - 1 month.
iv) Each internee shall be exposed to clinic pathology work to
acquire skill in taking samples and doing routine blood -
examination, blood smear for parasites, sputum examination,
urine and stool examination. Student shall be trained to
correlate laboratory findings with diagnosis and management
of sick people.
v) Each internee shall be given opportunities to learn the
diagnostic techniques like x-rays, Ultrasonography, E.C.G.,
Spirometer and other forthcoming techniques and co-relate
their findings with diagnosis and management of cases.
vi) Each internee student shall be given adequate knowledge
about issuing of medico-legal certificates including medical
and fitness and all of such legislation's be discussed which
were taught in curriculum of Forensic Medicine.
vii) Each internee shall maintain records of 40 acute and 25
chronic cases complete in all manner including follow up in
Practice of Medicine, record of 5 antenatal checkup and 3
delivery cases attended by him/ her in Department of
Obstetrics and 3 cases of Gynecology; records of 5 surgical
cases assisted by him (and demonstrational knowledge of
dressings) in Surgery department, and records of knowledge
gained in Primary Health Centers, Community health Centers,
various health programmes.
viii) Each internee shall be given a liberty to choose an elective
assignment on any subject, and complete output shall be
furnished in writing by the internee in respect of elective
assignment to the Principal of the College within internship
duration.
ix) Each intern shall be posted on duty in such a manner that each
of them attend at least 15 days in O.P.D. and 15 days I.P.O. at
least in each month (except for. duty in Community Medicine)
and attend the other parts of duty including self preparation in
Library.
x) Each intern-student shall be made to learn importance of
maintaining statistics and records; intern -student shall also be
familiarized with research methodology.
3) i) Each internee shall have not less than 80% of attendance
during the internship training.
ii) Each internee shall be on duty of at least 6 hrs. pe;~ day
during the compulsory internship training.
