STATION TASK CARD Unit 1 2 3 4 _____________Station Activity Name: Choose a Verb Standard: Conventions of Standard English Skill/Objective: (COPY IN YOUR PASSPORT) Subject/Verb Agreement Directions: 1. Work with the students at your station. 2. Take turns reading the anchor charts provided. Be sure you understand each how subjects and verbs work together in a sentence. 3. Stack the Activity Cards and use a CHILD game board, die, and tokens. The tallest person starts by picking up one sentence card. Read it aloud and choose the correct verb tense that completes the sentence. 4. Have the student to the right check your work using the Answer Key. If correct, move forward on the game board. If incorrect, put the card on the bottom of the pile. It is now the next student’s turn. The winner is the one who gets to the END first.
Challenge: Choose a comic strip from those provided by the teacher. Highlight the subject and verb in each section of the comic.

Intermediate Writing
Singular Subject & Verb
If you use a singular subject, use a singular verb.
Example: Andy wants to go bowling.
(Andy and wants agree because they are both singular.)
Example: Cindy rides her bike to school each day.
(Cindy and rides agree because they are both singular.)
Plural Subject & Verb
If you use a plural subject, use a plural verb.
Example: Boys sometimes sing like squawking chickens.(Boys and sing agree because they are both plural.)
Example: My pets jump at the chance to go outside.(pets and jump agree because they are both plural.)
