You may have already heard Robert Bentley boasting of his work in support of the Alabama Medical Education Consortium. But what he tells you is only part of the truth. Bentley doesn’t tell you he served on the AMEC’s Board of Directors or that he voted to appropriate over $1 Million in state funds to its coffers. Even more interestingly, Bentley’s support for AMEC coincided with the time that his son, Matt Bentley, was a participant in the program. It’s no wonder Bentley opposed the efforts spearheaded by Bradley Byrne to end the widespread practice of “double dipping.” Old habits are hard to break.
