APA SAMHSA Minority Fellowships Program (MFP)
Since 1975, the fellowship has equipped 433 psychiatry
residents from minority and underrepresented (MUR) groups to serve as leaders in mental health and substance abuse treatment services to diverse and underserved populations
Among 35 current psychiatry fellows are: 17 African Americans, 8 Asians, 5 Hispanics/Latinos, 2 Native Americans and 2 of non-minorities
500 MUR medical students have explored psychiatry as a career choice in travel scholarships, summer mentoring internships, addiction externships and HIV training
