Amy brings drugs to school analysis

The high angle dolly shot lasts for seven seconds reveals the where the girls are discussing drugs. It finishes with a high angle shot of the girls from above the cubicle. We understand from this shot that the girls are talking in a run-down, graffiti covered bathroom. It is obvious the toilets are not the school’s priority and because of this students talk out of lessons here.

The close up shot pans from right to left and focuses on the girl on the left of the shot’s questioning tone and frustrated expression. The shot lasts three seconds.

The camera zooms out as the girl to the left of the shot nods and convinces her peer to take the drugs. The shot is now a two shot. It lasts three seconds.

This close up shot of the two girls pans back and fourth between them twice as they speak. The girl on the right is unsure and still needs convincing. The shot lasts 3 seconds.

There is a close up shot, showing the profile of the girl’s face as she agrees to taking the drugs. This shot last 1 second and is a brief shot to further the plot of the scene.

The position of the camera changes to an aerial two shot over the heads of the two girls as the second student takes the drugs. The shot finishes on the angry expression of the girl selling the drugs as she is interrupted and therefore discovered by another one of their peers.

There is a low angle shot from the perspective of the students in the cubicle. The focus of this shot is the girl’s disgruntled, frustrated expression. This shot last 1 second.

This shot illustrates the students reaction to being discovered. The high angle shot last for two seconds. The girl selling the drugs begins to pick up her bag to leave the cubicle.

The student, Sam, jumps down from the high angle shot as she lands on the floor to confront her peers. The scene then becomes a three shot or group shot as the girls stand together trying to resolve the conflict. This last 5 seconds.

This shot last 3 seconds. It is an over the shoulder shot as Sam confronts her friend for becoming involved with drugs. The next scenes alternate between the Sam and the girl she is arguing with. Lauren who is buying the drugs is never shown when talking. The shots switch between over the shoulder shots and a close up and mid shot of the girl selling the drugs.

This shot lasts 4 seconds. The girl to the far right is attempting to pacify both of her peers. They continue to argue. This shot is a mid group shot or three shot.

The shot is two seconds long. The girls cannot resolve their conflict. It is a close up two shot.

This shot is a mid group shot or mid three shot. Sam bends down grabs her bag and leaves the shot leaving her two peers in a two shot looking confused and upset.
