site.

According to the Oxford English Dictionary, ‘An association of two or more people as part-
ners defines the word ’partnership’. Teachers, parents and children working together
make a sound recipe for a quality educational experience and I would like to thank all of
you who attended this week’s parent meetings. Having spoken to many parents this week
and by carefully monitoring the overall percentage attending these meetings, it was very
encouraging to note that by Monday 6th April, over 93% of all parents across the school
had accessed our new online boking system and made appointments to see their child’s
class and specialist teachers. Such meetings are a means to communicate your child’s
achievements and efforts within school, right across the curriculum. In addition to this,
this time allows our teachers to communicate the next steps for your children’s learning
and discuss how parents can help in this process at home. If you are yet to see your child’s
class teacher, please ensure that you contact them directly in order to arrange an ap-
pointment. Thanks again for your continued support.
When entering our school, parents often ask me what makes BIS a special place to be? Is it the children, the
teachers, the facilities or the very high academic and non academic standards that we have? I believe that it is
all of these encapsulated within our Aide Memoire (see above). You may have seen the Aide Memoire around
our campus but what is it and why is it so important to us? Essentially, this is our school’s mission statement
and it is visible in every room across our Group of Schools. It helps us all to focus upon what we understand
are the main attributes of excellent learning. ‘Integrity’, ‘Care’ and ‘Respect’ are what we term as our moral
attributes - those that make you the person that you are. We constantly refer to these across everyday school
life instilling a sense of equality, empathy and nurture into the education of our children. Running alongside
these attribute are those of academic rigour - ‘Enquiry’, ‘Reflection’ and ‘Perseverance’, that focus on allowing
our children to move through the learning process by taking risks, evaluating outcomes and setting goals for
their next steps.
As our children transition through their different phases of an internationally focussed BIS education, they
develop as independent, forward thinking global citizens that are learning together. Look our for our Aide
Memoire across our campus and ask your children how they have shown ‘integrity’ and what ‘reflections’ they
have made in their learning today - you may be surprised how much they know about it!
Please take time to familiarise yourself with the Term 3 Extra Curricular Clubs Booklet this weekend ready
for the live sign up that begins at 5.00pm on Monday.
I hope that you enjoy reading through the articles in this week’s newsletter and I wish you a very pleasant
weekend ahead.

EYFS Department - Visits from Friends at Binh Tho
Over the past month, F3 have enjoyed weekly visits from the children at Binh Tho, which is one of our commu-
nity partner schools. Each week, the Binh Tho children have had the opportunity to visit each of the F3 classes.
It has been so fantastic to see all the children playing together and sharing experiences. We have painted plant
pots and planted seeds, made play dough, masks, models….the list keeps on going! There is always lots of ener-
gy in the classroom and many, many smiles! We can’t wait to see our new friends again soon.

PE Department - Spring Splash Sprints
On Saturday 4th April it was great to see over 120 swimmers taking part in the ‘Spring Splash Sprints’ at SSIS.
There were swimmers taking part from BIS and 5 other International Schools within the city. All students from
BIS AP1 & AP2, SSIS, AIS, ISHCMC and EIS HCMC contributed to the success of the event and many man-
aged to achieve personal bests. There was a fantastic feeling throughout the meet and the day ran smoothly.
It was exciting to see the overall team trophy awarded to BIS, along with several individual trophies which are
listed below.
Overall combined points:
BIS HCMC 3389 Points - Champions!
Individual Trophies:
1. Harry Park - Boys Champion Age 8 & under
2. Sophia Villamil - Girls Champion Age 9-10
3. Ryo Sarashina - Boys Champion Age 9-10
Once again thank you to all the swimmers, spectators and coaches who contributed to making the day so spe-
cial.

Student Council - The Children's Voice On the 16th April, AP1 will celebrating ’Green Day’ by taking part in the ‘Wake Up to the Environment Day’
event. This initiative has been developed by the Student Council and Eco-Committee to raise environmental
awareness amongst our school community, whilst also having fun. The day itself will be full of fun activities
like; coming to school in your pyjamas, the ‘Eco-Quiz’ written by Year 6, making ‘Fun Eco-Hats’, healthy bak-
ing and many more.
So on the 16th April do not forget to ‘Wake Up to the Environment’ and come to school dressed in your pyja-
mas!
