Fire Evacuation Plan

By: Sydney Blum

Overview

I estimated about how many students would be in each building and so I used those numbers and each buildings location to pick the destinations to which each building could evacuate to in a safe, speedy, and organized way.

Career Counseling Center second floor

To eliminate any congestion in the hallways and to allow the students enough time to leave the building I split the rooms into two halves so the rooms highlighted in purple will go down the right staircase and the rooms highlighted in pink will go down the front left staircase and evacuate to the baseball field.

Career Counseling Center first floor

The rooms highlighted in yellow will evacuate to the baseball field through the front entrance and the rooms highlighted in blue will evacuate out of the back left staircase. This will allow the students to evacuate safely and quickly without chaos.

Construction Tech / JROTC

Instead of evacuating through the plaza and/or student parking lot to the baseball field this building will now evacuate to the left side grass area at the front of the shop buildings. This gives the students in this building a quicker way to get out of the building.

Industrial Tech

This building will also evacuate to the front left grass area making it quick and easy for the students to get out of the building.

Agriculture Science

Like the Industrial Tech and Construction Tech/ JROTC buildings this building will also evacuate to the front left grass area. These three buildings are the only buildings evacuating to that destination; therefore there will not be a lot of congestion and all the students and staff can get out of the buildings quickly.

Cafeteria

In case there is a fire while one of the lunches is going on the students in the lunchroom will evacuate through the three side doors and walk on the breezeway to the baseball field. The students eating lunch in the plaza will walk on the breezeway to the baseball field as well.

Main gym upper level

The students and staff in this part of the gym will evacuate down the front left stairs and into the left side door of the tennis courts. This is a fast way to get the students outside instead of having them walk to the baseball field like they do in the current plan.

Main Gymlower level

I divided the bottom level of the gym into two halves so the students and staff can get out quickly and without congestion. The rooms highlighted in purple will exit out of the back left doors and into the middle door of the tennis courts. The rooms in orange will evacuate out of the back right doors and through the right door onto the tennis courts. The pink arrows represent the students coming from the Packard gym.

Packard Gym

Since there are not a lot of students in the Packard gym they will just evacuate out of the back doors and follow the path to the left door on the tennis courts. Since there are not that many students in the two gyms combined the tennis courts make a perfect destination for the students and staff to evacuate to. If there was a need for the students to move further away from the school they could file out of the back door on the tennis courts and into the woods right behind the courts.

Core Curriculum Buildingsecond floor

I divided this building into two different halves so there would be no congestion. The rooms highlighted in green will exit out of the right front staircase, through the field between the Core curriculum building and the academic wing to the football field.

Core Curriculum Buildingfirst floor

Like the top floor of this same building I divided the rooms into two halves and each half will go out a separate staircase and out to the baseball field. This will help keep everyone organized and minimize the chaos.
