The Church of St. Patrick is a community of people in the Roman Catholic faith

an atmosphere of openness and caring to learn and spread the teaching of
Jesus Christ and to serve the spiritual and corporal needs of its members and
the larger community.

have come here from another part of the country, from across the world, or simply from another par-
ish here in the Archdiocese of Hartford. Thanks in part to the generosity of visitors like yourself, we
are able to celebrate the Church’s liturgy here in a fitting and beautiful way. We are also able to offer a
wide range of services to individuals living in our parish and community. - Monsignor Thomas J. Barry
As members of the Body of Christ, we need to pray for each
other & we encourage you to let us know of any parishioner

APRIL 26, 2020 | THIRD SUNDAY OF EASTER 3
Although the Archbishop has cancelled both weekday and weekend Masses throughout our Archdiocese indefinitely, our church will remain open for anyone who wishes to come and pray.
CAPITAL CAMPAIGN UPDATES
OFFERTORY WEEKEND OF APRIL 19th
Regular Offertory: $ 6,599.00
Total: $ 6,599.00
Thank you very much for continuing to support our
parish, especially during this difficult time.
There are four ways of giving to St. Patrick’s
Church:
1. Making contributions through your bank in person
or online or through online giving on our website .
2. Making gifts to church of appreciated securities.
3. Making a one time or an annual end of the year gift.
4. Establishing a legacy gift as part of one’s estate plan-
ning.
ARCHBISHOP’S ANNUAL APPEAL
The Archbishop’s Annual Appeal provides help to those
in need! Together, we can and do make a difference in
the lives of many individuals and families, in a way that
exceeds anything we could hope to achieve on our own.
Please consider supporting this important initiative.
Every gift makes a difference. Organizations such as
Covenant School in Hartford, Franciscan Life Center in
Meriden, are some that receive funding from the Ap-
peal’s Vicariate Outreach Program which serves our lo-
cal neighbors.
All funds contributed to the Archbishop’s Annual Appeal
are used exclusively for the purposes outlined in the
Appeal literature, which can be found at archdiocesof-
hartford.org/appeal/. No Appeal funds are ever used
for legal fees or settlements.
If you would like your tax
contributions for 2019, please
call or email the Parish Office to
request it. Statements are not
sent out unless requested. Thank you for your
anticipated cooperation.
Church of St. Patrick Responds to COVID-19
As a result of the significant spread of the coronavirus, the Church
of St. Patrick urges you to consider the following three sugges-
tions:
1. Practice common sense measures as outlined by the CDC and Federal Government;
2. Continue your personal and spiritual practices at home, in-cluding praying for those infected by this virus. We will be live-streaming the 9:30 Mass each Sunday for you to watch on our website and/or Facebook page: The Church of Saint Pat-rick Farmington CT;
3. Continue your weekly giving by switching to secure online giv-ing by visiting stpatsfarm.org or by dropping off or mailing in your envelope.
Stay up to date on announcements by visiting our website and/or
Facebook page.
The income tax charitable deduction is one of
the few deductions left under the new tax
law. Are you required to take a minimum dis-
tribution (RMD) from your IRA? If yes, then
you can make a gift to our capital campaign
directly from your IRA. It counts towards your
RMD, but your gift will not be taxed because it will not be
included in your income on your tax returns. It’s easy -
just ask your IRA custodian to make a gift (Qualified Chari-
table Distribution) directly to St. Patrick Church. Consult
with your tax advisor as to the RMD requirements as re-
cent changes in the tax law have taken place. Prior to
2020, RMDs from IRA accounts were required to begin in
the year the individual turned 70 1/2. Beginning in 2020,
however, the new age at which RMDs must start is 72.
RMDs for individuals who turned 70 1/2 in 2019, or had
already turned 70 1/2, remain the same for tax year 2020.
Whenever you are considering any action which effects
your taxes, you should consult with your personal advi-
sors.
PLEASE NOTE: Campaign payments can be sent to the
office at any time. Thank you for your commitment to our
addition!

RELIGIOUS EDUCATION (CCD)
IMPORTANT DATES TO REMEMBER Liturgy of the Word for Children is celebrated every Sunday
at the 9:30 & 11:30 Masses. We will hopefully resume the
weekend of May 2-3.
All remaining CCD classes have been cancelled.
All Religious Education Classes have been cancelled.
The teaching will now fall on the shoulders of the
parents of the children. It can be a time of renewal of
faith in families and for parents, who will learn right
along with their children. This may be a blessing in
disguise. Parents are asked to come into the church
hall to pick up the Pflaum Gospel Weeklies along with
other materials we have put out for the Season of Lent:
Stations of the Cross for Children booklets, How to
Receive the Sacrament of Reconciliation, Praying with
Pretzels and How to Pray the Rosary, as well as rosaries.
The Lord brings good out of every dark season, and if
this challenging and concerning time leads to families
praying at home together, reading Bible stories
together, and having faith conversations, then that
would be a gift and a blessing! This is the perfect time
to help families turn to God for peace and comfort; and
it an ideal time to ramp up what we can to resource
families digitally. Try this at home, it’s an amazing way
to learn!
Corporal Works of Mercy Collections
The Corporal Works of Mercy Collections will be postponed until after Easter. We will put a reminder in the upcoming bulletins as to what the collections are and the items requested as soon as we resume regular Mass schedules. Thank you for your patience and your continued generosity to these important Works of Mercy!

their hearts were burning within them
as He explained the scriptures. They
were overjoyed when they recognized
Him in the breaking of the bread.
They returned to Jerusalem and told
all the Good News. If you feel the call
to share the Good News with others,
