WELCOME TO THE 37th ANNUALSOUTHWESTERN GRAND AMERICAN!
2016 Southwestern Grand 5
Pre-squadding for this shoot will be fully automated and will be available on the ATA website, www.shootata.com by selecting the link on the home page titled “South-western Satellite Grand Pre-squadding.”
In order to presquad, you will be required to furnish the ATA numbers and handicap yardage for all shooters you wish to squad with you. After selecting an event, you will specify your post(s) preference and then be asked if you prefer an early, middle or late squad. You will then have the option of squadding for another event, or exit-ing and paying for your presquads. In the case of yardage differential on handicap events, you will be able to squad your list of shooters on individual squads, if necessary. Handicap squadding will be done in strict accordance to ATA rules. If you receive any yardage change from the time you presquad until the shoot, please notify us ASAP by calling 210-688-3371 x125.
Presquadded positions will not be held. Payment of $2 per post per event is due at the conclusion of the squadding process. If you exit without paying, your presquad posts will be opened back up. You will be sent an email after your payment has been accepted listing all of your presquadded squads and posts. Any changes necessary will be allowed once you arrive at the shoot.
Presquadding will open on March 14, 2016 at 7PM, Central Standard Time, and will close on April 1, at 7PM, CST.
SQUADDING DURING THE SHOOTYou will enter your squadding preferences by using a touch screen system. After swip-ing your ATA card, and the cards of others that you wish to squad with you, you will select the event that you wish to squad for, your preferred post(s) and your preference of an early, middle or late squad. You will then be shown six possible squads on the screen from which to make your selection. After making your selection, you will assign shooters to posts. You will then be given the option of squadding for another event, or exiting the squadding process. In the case of yardage differential on handicap events, you will be able to squad your list of shooters on individual squads, if necessary. Handicap squadding will be done in strict accordance to ATA rules. A shooter may squad for only one position per event. Management will draw for bank assignments for each event. If you squad after the bank assignments have been posted, you must take a position on the first available squad. Squadding by telephone will not be al-lowed. If you draw squad positions that will not be used for an event, please return to squadding to release your position. Anyone that does not release unused positions will risk having any or all subsequent pre-squadded positions in their name released by Management. You may call the office at 210-688-3371 x115 to have your position released if you cannot make it to the club in time.
CASHIERINGYou will make your entry, including options at the cashier’s window using a touch screen system. Upon paying your entry fees, you will be supplied with a receipt showing your squad and position along with your class/yardage, options (if applicable) and category for each event entered. Once you leave the cashier window, your entry cannot be changed for options or squadding.

As well as shooting at the complex, it is a great opportunity to visit nearby sites such as the famed River Walk and the Alamo.
The staff at the club have planned a complete package of great trophies and All-American points. Several members of the Executive Committee, including Mike Her-man, the Southwestern Zone ATA Vice President, will be in attendance to answer any questions you may have.

1) Take your average card to the Handicap Table immediately upon arrival. Do not attempt to make your program entries before doing so.
2) Be sure your classification and handicap yardage are assigned and confirmed by a member of the Handicap Committee before you leave the table. It is your responsibility to know the rules. You are subject to penalties for shooting on wrong yardage or in wrong classification –even if your card is so marked. It shall be the shooters responsibility to inform the Handicap Table as to his or her eligibility.
3) If possible, please enter all events you plan to shoot for the week at the time of your initial entry. This will save time and make things more pleasant for all shooters.
4) No counter checks or second party checks will be accepted by the cashier. Checks will be accepted for the amount of shooting fees only—No exceptions. NSC will accept CASH or CHECK ONLY for shoot options – credit cards will be accepted for all other services. All entries must be made in U.S. funds.
5) Purses and options are not compulsory. All entries close at 2PM Sunday, April 10. Payouts close at 5PM Sunday, April 10.
6) Any shooter that wants to re-squad or misses his squad will be charged a $20 re-squadding fee provided such instances are not managements fault. If you re-squad, you will be placed on the same bank as your original squad would have shot. No shooter will be allowed to make up more than 50 targets on the practice traps if he or she has missed their squad. If you are unable to join your squad before they have started their third sub-event, you must pay the $20 re-squadding fee and be re-squadded. All make-ups for either missed squads or gun repairs report to the practice traps no later than 30 minutes of when the last squad takes the line for that event.
7) By entering the competition, every person agrees to accept all official decisions and to abide by ATA rules. Members are strongly encouraged to know the ATA Rules and abide by them, both for their own benefit and the benefit of other shooters.
8) Refund Policy: Only target and option money will be refunded prior to the day of the event.
9) Be ready to shoot. SQUADS WILL NOT WAIT FOR TARDY MEMBERS. If you miss your squad, report to Registration, pay a $20 re-entry fee and be re-squadded on a later squad.
10) In case of gun breakdown, a shooter will be allowed five (5) minutes for repair or replacement.
11) PLEASE CHECK YOUR SCORE AFTER FIRING AT EACH 5 TARGETS. According to ATA rules, the scorekeeper must keep the score sheet in plain view of the shooters at all times. If shooters insist on this, many arguments will be avoided. The Squad Leader (No.1 shooter) will total the score after each sub-event and initial the score sheet before leaving the trap. Errors made in totaling may and shall be corrected whenever discovered.
12) It is the responsibility of ladies, sub-veterans, veterans, senior veterans, junior gold, juniors and sub-juniors to see that they are so indicated on their entry cards and on the bulletin sheets so that they may be included in the competition. Report any omission on the bulletin sheet to Registration. All scores are final for purse and option calculation one hour after the last score is posted.
13) All information needed to: 1) award trophies; 2) award added money; and 3) make reports to the ATA is taken from the scoreboard sheets, so be sure all information is correct.

ShellsReloads will be permitted.A large supply of shells, in standard loads, will be for sale on the grounds at current standard prices. Please Note: If you wish to save your shells for reloading, please transfer them from your gun to your pocket or pouch. Picking up shells from the ground is a nuisance to other shooters and will not be tolerated AT ANY TIME.
Practice/Ammunition Building/Shotgun StoragePractice and Ammunition Building will be open on Monday, April 4 from 8AM-5PM and daily from 8AM until shoot-offs begin for the remainder of the shoot. Practice rounds are $5.00 for 25 targets. Shotgun storage is available at the Ammo Building. The cost is $5 per gun per day.
Campers Reservations are required for RV/Campers because of the increased demand. Camp grounds open Saturday, April 2. If you have any questions or desire a space, please call Olivia Gracia at 210.688.3371 ext 138 or email nscrv@nssa-nsca.com.
Rules and Regulations1 ) Should you win or tie for high in class in any 16 yard or Doubles event or earn yardage in any
Handicap event, it shall be your duty to report to the Handicap Desk and have your clas-sification reviewed or yardage punched. Any shooter whose class or yardage is changed for any reason shall be considered to have been notified when the new class or yardage is posted on the bulletin board. Mandatory move up starts with Events #10 and #12.
2) Any shooter failing to carry out rule #1, or who shoots in a class or yardage higher or lower than that assigned by the Handicap Committee will be subject to penalty and will not be eligible to share in any money division or trophy whatsoever.
3) CATEGORY SHOOTERS: At all tournaments where All-American points will be awarded in any event, shooters may declare only one category (i.e. Lady I, Lady II, Sub-Junior, Junior, Junior Gold, Sub-Veteran, Veteran, or Senior Veteran) Note: Chair shooters are exempt from this rule. Any shooter who is tied for event Champion may shoot-off/carry-over for the Championship trophy. If a shooter fails in the championship trophy shoot-off/carry-over and has declared a special category at the time of classification, the shooter can fall back to the declared category. Any shooter who has declared a special category at the time of classification and whose score qualifies for any trophy in his/her declared category, will compete for the category trophy and not for place, class or yardage group. Any special category shooter, whose score does not qualify for a trophy in his/her category, may compete for place, class or yardage group trophies. Once any declarations have been made either by shooter or shoot management, the declaration is final and cannot be changed. The only exception to this rule will be to correct an ATA classification error. All Ladies I, Ladies II, Sub-Juniors, Juniors, Junior Golds, Sub-Veterans, Veterans and Senior Veterans must declare their special category at the time of classification in any registered tournament if they wish to compete as a category shooter. Without such declaration, the contestant will not be allowed to compete for the applicable category trophy for the duration of the tournament. No contestant will be allowed to declare or change a special declaration after firing his/her first shot. Failure to declare your classification does not constitute an ATA classification error. Please check your classification reciept before leaving the classification window. There will be no excep-tions to this rule other than noted above.
4) Each shooter who is entitled to receive money won during any event agrees that if such money is not received by him/her during the period of this tournament, a check in payment for the money won may be mailed to him/her at the address indicated by ATA records, and when mailed the Club will not be liable in any manner whatsoever for any check lost, stolen, unclaimed, undelivered or otherwise not received by the shooter.
5) Shooters who do not have a total of 1000 16 yard targets registered with the ATA in the cur-rent and previous year shall be placed in Class B or higher at the discretion of the Classification Committee.
6) Shooters who do not have a total of 1,000 doubles targets registered with the ATA in the cur-rent and previous year shall be placed in Class B or higher at the discretion of the Classification Committee.
7) Assigned yardage applies during this tournament. Shooters not meeting target requirements will be assigned yardage or their handicap card yardage whichever is greater. Target require-ments are at least a total of 1,000 handicap targets registered with the ATA in the current and previous year. Assigned yardage for Junior, Junior Gold, Sub-Vet and adult males is 23
2016 Southwestern Grand 11

8) Targets will be set each morning at 7AM or upon daylight according to ATA rules. Targets will only be reset if they have become illegal or in between events.
9) Management shall appoint a judge or judges to be called upon for ruling on various matters when the occasion arises. If a judge has not been appointed, the President of the club, or in his absence, the Secretary shall act as judge. The scorer must call upon the judge to settle any controversy regarding a score or when he has made an error by being ahead or behind in his scoring.
10) Management will not be responsible for errors in scores after the options have been posted. Shooters should use the electronic bulletin board and the score board to check their scores and notify Shoot Management immediately if a discrepancy is noticed. SCORES BECOME FINAL ONE HOUR AFTER THE CONCLUSION OF THE EVENT.
