Sarah Brothers, Arts Education Manager, Arts Council of Santa Cruz County

Santa Cruz County Alliance for Arts Education

Our mission is to advocate for arts education for all students in every school community in Santa Cruz County.

We envision a core curriculum that provides sequential, standards-aligned arts education for every student.

We believe:

• The Arts promote Creativity, Critical Thinking, Communication, and Collaboration, the pillars of the Common Core State

Standards [CCSS] and essential 21st

century skills.

• The Arts awaken the full potential of every student.

• The Arts break down barriers.

• The Arts provide valuable learning opportunities to express Santa Cruz County’s diverse cultural heritages.

The Alliance, under the leadership of Arts Council Santa Cruz County, is a county-wide network of individuals, comprised of

community members, educators, and parents, representing higher education institutions, local organizations and businesses, and

the broader community.
